Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are other departments having people take the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment?

One of our managers is doing this and the results are shared with the manager. Naturally with the layoff situation, people are hesitant because of the fear that maybe this will be used to get rid of the “wrong” people. Maybe they’re right, I don’t know.

After all is said and done, there’s always a lot more said than done. Just ask Coastin’ Conor if you don’t believe me.... he’s banking on it...

I was asked to do it in 2 volunteering organizations I have been in (one was a year long leadership course). That and the MBTI tests. Read the book "Strengths Based Leadership: Great Leaders, Teams, and Why People Follow" and "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable (J-B Lencioni Series Book 43)" and you will learn more about why this is a good test by Gallup and what you can learn about yourself and others.

Nothing comes of it. People just add them to their WF pages we are all then forced to look at or put them in their email sigs along with LGBTQ Ally nonsense.

There are other sharper metrics to use when laying off a dept or whole teams.

My team did this a few years ago. Nothing came of it, positively or negatively.

Our team was asked in a weekly meeting to share what our strengths are.. If you don’t have e.g. a Detail Oriented strength and you’re a CPA, I could see this being weird.

You are absolutely dead on. Coddled Millennials who walked right into a red hot tech economy love to put down people who essentially are their parents. They have no clue regarding the decades of stagflation and recession where we worked 3,000 hour exempt years for decades to build the tech they regard as toys.

We didn’t stare at a smart phone for most all day everyday. It took us a heck of a lot of work to build your tech toys. Now get to work.

@1luh. I am an older worker who moved within the bank recently. It took me over two years and several attempts to do it, which I think is ridiculous, but it can be done. So don’t lose hope.

I was encouraged to do this several years ago but no one ever did anything with it.

No !! What is Classic is the way older workers are told to put in for a job but No one wants an older worker.I have tried many times So it is all very disappointing and discouraging. Whats the point.. you end up getting the shaft when I first came to work here I was excited to learn and try new things but they have just Beat me down . How many times on this site have older workers been put down.. Quite a few!!

@1psl+1aghQZfm Classic. You are two years from retirement, so feel entitled to pass on team building activities like this? I bet you also feel entitled to coast for the next two years, and pick and choose your level of effort.

You can still grow personally and professionally in your 60s, if you are willing. If not, maybe go it yo be a team player?

I am in my 60s they have suggested I take it.. what for .. I am going to retire . I told them took these years ago when they first became popular to take. It's like a development plan less than 2 years till retirement.. why ?

I found it a valuable assessment tool and one that helped me set a career direction around my strengths. It's free to you and you get to keep the results. And if you don't agree with the answers you can feel free to ignore the whole thing.

I'd go for it.

I took that test about a year and a half ago when first started working here.

Our group took it several years back. I wouldn't read too much into it.

  1. J., you’re not “writing riddles”, you’re attempting poetry. And you have no talent.

How have you not done one though, unless you're new? That's one of the most common developmental things to do.

They’re not using it for layoffs. It’s a focus on your strengths and how to best work with eAchother. I would take it honestly, they’re surprisingly accurate. People on here just get way too paranoid.

Who cares about a dump service program Clifton judging our individual personalities? Wells Fargo HR corporate elites get kickbacks for people buy in Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment just another gimmick.

Wells has been doing strength finders for at least 15 years. It’s a team building thing. Since it’s about strengths (not shortcomings) there are no wrong answers unless someone is completely doing it wrong.
