Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon - Feel at Peace with the Universe

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon - YouTube

One of my favorites from the 1970's. A peaceful musical experience to which they have now
added video photos. If you want to feel better then listen to nice music! Pretty cool music and video. You don't know what you missed if you do not watch it. To keep "spirits up" among layoffs. That's all.

From the original poster. So really NOTHING makes you happy, not even music, if you have been laid off. Been there, done that. The only happy place is when you get a new better job! And you will.

It was just all about listening to music, what ever kind you like, to make you feel better in this time of down turn from the normal life style. Of course I do not listen to Pink Floyd much anymore, very rarely, just occasionally when I remember some music of theirs that I cannot forget hearing and were my favorite songs then. I DO find RAP music really very annoying and try to avoid listening to it as it "gets on my nerves" and is "irritating" to me personally. Nothing against RAP music, not a "snide" remark, it just makes me personally feel "irritable" when I hear it and I turn it off ASAP. That would also be true now for a lot of that old rock and roll music of the 1970's. Was just trying to share a couple of old time music songs that were pretty nice and "cool" at that time.

"The whole "us vs. them" narrative just needs to be put to bed." May as well have some fun with it -

The issue isn't so much about DSotM, pink floyd or music from that era. It's a great album for sure, but at nearly 50 years old it's probably news to absolutely no one. A better idea would have been to share something most people have likely never heard of. Otherwise you may as well be sharing links to star wars, disneyland, harry potter or the super bowl.

But never mind all that. The real problem is with that snide comment about rap music and this general prevailing sense of, "I need to knock down and insult things I don't like or understand in order to promote the things I do like."

Immature, closed-minded and perfectly summarizes the entire culture at WF. The whole "us vs. them" narrative just needs to be put to bed.

PS @3be: The backmasking theory has been debunked so many times it's become cliché. Same thing goes for syncing up with the wizard of oz.

Pink Floyd video and music "Money". Not so sweet. If you want to experience it. More down to Earth with reality then and now.

Just pointing out that listening to music can make you feel "happier", what ever kind of music you like to listen to.

g–z just trying to share some what was "cool" then 1970's psychedelic music. It was a really great time period for music. So "take you away" type of feeling. So unique. Nothing like it anymore today. It was a "happy" type of music, a "mystical" experience type of music, somewhat "inspiring" and thought provoking. Guess it does not help listening to it if you are getting laid off, but maybe.

I’m a Floyd fan... before and after Dark Side of the Moon. Not hard core, but a fan.

The interesting about 1972’s “Dark Side of the Moon” is that it was completely beyond anything that came before or could have been anticipates. It was still in the Billboard 100 for at least into the early 2000’s. It was remarkably genre bending music that appealed to all generations. It was the first thematic LP which demanded listening straight through... in order. It had tons of Easter Eggs, several of which required playing the record backwards. It blended traditional instruments of many types played by virtuosos with nature, Musique Concreté such as running footsteps, machinery noise, screaming and/or muttering, acapello moving vowels and more... all with obvious attention to every second across the entire LP. Most of all, I was personally stunned that this recording reached everyone from young children to the elderly, different languages, etc.

I saw them being handed out free (now on CD) at Software Development 1996 in the Moscone Convention Center. Everybody wanted one. it certainly hit me. Although I had always recognized the greatness of this recording, it was 24 years old after all...

That music from Pink Floyd, though old style, surely takes one to a higher level of thought and "dream state", very nice and calming.

I thought that the Dark Side of the Moon album song and video presented was really beautiful and enchanting. Very creative musicians played it.

Just some nice peaceful music amidst some 'sad" layoff blogs, for a psychological boost. IF you do not "get" the Pink Floyd music, or enjoy it, there is always the new RAP music to annoy you.

Five Ways Music Can Make You Healthier (berkeley.edu)

Neuroscientists have discovered that listening to music heightens positive emotion through the reward centers of our brain, stimulating hits of dopamine that can make us feel good, or even elated. Listening to music also lights up other areas of the brain—in fact, almost no brain center is left untouched—suggesting more widespread effects and potential uses for music.
