Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is everybody at Verizon really this unhappy?

My goodness, an outsider looking at posts here would get an impression that everybody who works at Verizon is utterly miserable. It makes me wonder why so many of you are not looking for a solution to your problems at other companies. If I was this miserable, I'd be long gone from here by now.

Don’t bother replying, “the layoff” just deletes anything that VZ disapproves of.

I'm fine. 22 years with the company has given my family a great life.

I like our current CEO better than anyone except Ivan in my tenure. My pay and benefits are good, bennies especially so. Do I enjoy work? Of course some days it sucks. That's why it's work.

All I can say is I've worked a lot harder, for a lot less money in my life. I'm betting most of the folks here either came in as their first job out of school, or have forgotten how the rest of the world looks.

Love the xenophobia too. Looks good on you guys. Doesn't reinforce how the rest of the US looks at GA, at all...

Why would an outsider randomly visit a lay-off site? How unhappy are you buddy?

Yes. The biggest indicator of employee satisfaction is how many people leave their jobs, not the BS Gallup survey.

I am very pleased with Verizon. Last year in response to the Covid Verizon sent my team to work from home. I just got my Stick Together money. I got my unused sick days money. I get a big fat paycheck every week. All this while working from home.

People are unhappy because this is not the place it used to be. They have put many years of their lives into contributing to this company’s success, only to be treated like c––p. This is true for management as well as craft. I think most people are just waiting for the numbers to be right, and they’ll be gone. Then they’ll go work somewhere that they’re happy, or just retire outright.

Picture this - you are handcuffed to a burning building, wearing head-to-toe denim. But the handcuffs are made of gold, so it’s fine.

What do you expect on a layoff board. All such boards are full of negativity.

I know a lot of reps, managers, and DMs who have made this a career. That’s why they’re miserable and not leaving. In their head this is it, the best thing they’ve got. They’re also worried about losing income by switching companies. Not to mention most did nothing to advance past their current role or upskill themselves. They’re hangin on till ship has sunk and their on the life raft.

Most people I know are eyeing other opportunities, and that’s across many channels.

I am happy with my job at Verizon but very unhappy with the CEO, he needs to go.

I come to work to make a living, to get paid for what I do. I don't come to work to listen to a NON US citizen lecturing (me) us US citizens about how to vote in this country or the laws that surround voting in the USA. Being that I am a black man, born and raised in Decatur Georgia I don't need to be lectured by our CEO about our laws in Georgia. Needless to say our CEO has never spent more than 2 weeks in the State of Georgia at best, so who is he to judge? Why is he talking about what goes on in this country to start with he does not even have a green card? Meanwhile we have had many layoffs in Verizon under his leadership.

Why stay where you are so unhappy and make others miserable? And why should it matter if the CEO is from outside the US. The market will judge the performance. Seriously guys the days of NYNEX are all over, get over it!

With us in the middle of a pandemic there is nothing out there that pays as much as what we are making now. Plus what’s wrong with having a place to vent

Its easy to look as an outsider, but the inside is really this unhappy. They hired a CEO not born in the USA, while this company was built by the hard working people born here, so things have gone downhill
