If you've been here for more than a decade, why are you worried about layoffs? WFC pays decently. You should have enough savings by now to be okay for a couple of months (actually, even longer.) I've been here for less then three years and it's people like me who're truly screwed. As I said, I'd be happy to be in your position.

Wishing you were in someone else’s position without knowing anything about their life, health, or obligations is a stupid waste of time. At any age.
I don't see how this post is about age...you could be in your early 30s and have 10+ YoS. Not even close to the legal definition of age descrimination.
OP: A person with a job for 10+ years should be able to float themselves better during a period of unemployment than someone who's had a job for less than 3 years.

I, personally, don’t see where OP has a point. I could ague the pros/cons of losing your job at any age group.
I didn’t initially view this as a post about age, as an older employee could have only been here for 3 years. But having read it again, OP is absolutely referring to age with the “you should have enough savings by now” comment 🙄. Additionally, OP just comes across as young and inexperienced due to a general lack of perspective.
OP has a point. Also, lets not make this into an age argument when the Bureau of Labor statistics has the facts. The younger one is, the more likely they are to be unemployed.

Ditto @OCR's comment. I've been here for 11 years and my biggest concern is that I'm over 50 and believe the job prospects for me are more limited than they are for people in their 30's.
Also, OP's comment about how people "should have enough savings" is a little judgemental. I'm fortunate enough that my savings + severance could sustain me for at least a year, but everone's situation is different. You don't know their family circumstances. Maybe they have significant child or elderly care expenses. Maybe medical issues. And God forbid they have to pay for COBRA while unemployed - or not be able to get insurance at all. Sure, they may be able to get Obama care with an affordable payment, but have you seen the deductibles? My wife has better insurance for us than Wells Fargo's, but many people ( maybe most people) don't have the luxury of a spouse with excellent family coverage. As much as I worry about my job prospects, I think I may actually worry MORE for those without the benefits that I have. So let's not make false assumptions based on tenure.
