Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Severance Package Roll call

Honestly though how many would take it ? I work in a larger store on the west coast and we have 9 reps total. We all have talked about this topic for the last year and everyone seems to know what they would do. Keep in mind this is a mostly tenured and aged location.

3 of the 9 reps confirmed they would take a package

2 are on the fence depending on alternate choices

Based on chatter throughout the district it seems 20-30 % of reps would currently take a package. The number may seem small based on sentiment from this message board but imagine a company where at least a quarter of the workforce wants OUT ! What a disaster.

dzm+1aYsdKB9- what they want is to convert stores to indirect. I warned people this was gonna happen the moment they went part time only. Think about it...why else would they only want part time employees? Easier to close the store and offer less severance. The majority of people can't afford to work part time so there will be many vacant positions open when people quit/get fired that will not be able to get filled. So the excuse they will use is that they can't find help so they will close the stores and blame it on staffing issues and those remaining reps who are part time will get severance for part time instead of full saving Verizon $$.

If Verizon is permanently doing away with the 40 hour full time rep position (which they are ) they can offer a severance to leave or stay and take on less hours. This can and will happen.

all the open recs are 24 hour or 32. They want 24-32 hour people they can work 5 days a week for less money. Also 40 hour people are taking up a lot of headcount and likely have tenure with high hourly. Obviously these people are valuable and experienced so it just makes sense for Verizon to get rid of them right?

4 out of 4 remaining full-timers in my store are literally only still with the company because they're waiting for a potential severance. Until then just di-k around and do the bare minimum and sap the hourly pay

I don’t think they would offer it to reps since there’s a ton of open rep positions right now.
