Again we have executives that can't speak. They really need to attend a public speaking class. Hmm, ah , yea, hmm..good lord. It's exhausting just to listen.

I was a Toast Masters speaking and communication club member at a former company. Prior to that I really was not aware of the "uh" and "um" type stuff in my corporate speeches. I try hard not to interject such "unwanted" extra words into my current conversations. It takes some thinking about not doing it honestly. An extra effort. It is such a habit and when you are nervous speaking to a very large audience it is even more difficult to control. Personally I don't mind the "uh" and "um" type stuff. I think it is a brief second for the brain to decide what is right to say next. A time out sort of thing for a second or so. A necessary thing sometimes.
@OP it's hard to speak confidently when you don't want to say the truth.
