Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Which banks still respect hard work?

Is there a place where I can go and know that if I excel at what I do, I'll be rewarded accordingly? I know that Wells Fargo is not that place, it hasn't been for years. I'm in my forties and I'd like to move my career forward but it's becoming more and more obvious it won't happen here.

You need to get out of banking. Look into fintechs or even management consulting.

Move to a lower tier bank. Regulators are about to scrape the big banks off the market. Fines will pay for government overspending. MRA, MRIA, and consent orders will increase work, freeze salary, and cut bonuses. Meanwhile the D&I drum beat will fool good people into working harder for less in sake of equity. Other banks here have the same problems.

The little ones do. They have to be more efficient and sensitive to talent retention. Try a regional.

All I know is that hard work isn't respected on TheLayoff forum.

which respect hard work and which will pay for it are two different questions and I assume you're more concerned with the pay portion.. WF does respect hard work, they just don't want to pay extra for it! Trust me, I've been underpaid and overworked for years. It's all a big song and dance here, they'll work you like a dog and then tell you sorry no raises and bonuses are down because of xyz; but tell you that expectations are higher than ever so the bar has been raised! It really is ridiculous. That being said, this isn't a WF problem, this is a corporate America problem. all places really have this issue and hence why you see people "job hopping" to get better pay/benefits and hopefully find a culture that works best for them.

My advice, gtfo of this industry. Try a new industry or a similar role in a company outside of banking. Maybe try a FinTech.
