Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Dumping more and more work on us

I feel that this is a never-ending process. Our group just keeps getting smaller and as people leave for other jobs or retire. The company doesn’t hire anyone to replace the people that are gone and the managers just dump the extra work on the rest of us.
Now we are in a situation where we can’t complete all of the tasks that we’ve been given. I don’t even want to mention that it will be impossible to keep up this pace of work for a long time. I’m worried what will happen if more people leave, and chances are that many will leave if this continues. Is anyone facing similar problems at other parts of the company?

@ecqb, it all depends on your background and area. Where I am, there aren't many jobs at the moment.

@eqb "I have not been in a store or business in the last 3 months that doesn't have a Now Hiring sign up."

Yeah, I'm going to quit my 6 figure tech job to go work retail for minimum wage. That'll improve my quality of life. All the good tech jobs put Help Wanted signs in their windows.

for me, i am working 22 hour days; i was able to do a few interviews and got a new job!! I am so burned out and I don't recommend anyone working this hard for any company.

I am taking 2 weeks off between my last day here and starting new job. Hoping new job doesn't drive people into the ground

there is an employee shortage throughout the country, Govt is getting heat for it due to all the free money giving out. Americans can make more money on governments unemployment plans versus a job. Its all over the news, every company (successful company) is hiring like crazy!

@klt+1aSY50pW "No one is hiring right now?!" Huh? You're not looking too hard then, because there are job posting and help wanted signs EVERYWHERE! There's a nationwide worker shortage so if you want a job, you can get one, if you get off your azz and look. Professional or hourly, they're there, look!

I have not been in a store or business in the last 3 months that doesn't have a Now Hiring sign up. And I've gotten lots of interview requests for professional roles, too, more so than pre-covid. You can Boo Hoo or get up in the morning, put a nice shirt and pants on, and go apply for jobs. There are businesses across the country desperate for good workers.

It wouldn’t be so bad if everyone was affected equally, but I work in a group where the IC workload increases weekly, while the manager continues to live life as before.

She’s on at 9:30, off at 5, unavailable for huge chunks of time during the day, while repeating “Do more with less” like a parrot to her directs.

I’m working on getting out because of the unfairness, not the workload.

ya it is great times! What happened to the great jobs in the USA! I think the indians give their work here and they get the rewarding work from US COmpanies like this one.

Time to stop training foreign country workers. Same thing happen to us giving China all our work!
Now they jack up the prices in US, pretty bad strategy.

I envy all of you. My job is gone and no one is hiring right now so look at it that way.

There will come a time when we dream of having "too much work" and it justifying our continued employment. Everyone that doesn't will be contracted out / downsized.

With us it’s not so much the work level as the line managers wanting to knock themselves out to impress Saul and the C suite, so now the presentation prep is taking as much time as the actual work-related work. Just to justify their existence. They insist that we are Agile, and when it’s pointed out that that’s not how sprints work, you can’t shift gears mid-sprint like that, they decide that randomly dropping everything to panic-work on something unrelated is part of our “modified Agile process” which they are making up on the spot.

I was bored out of my mind in my role, did not have enough to do 40 hours a week. So I took a new role; however, I'm so sick of the lack of leadership and support here, I'm not going to last long. It's either feast or famine, there is no in between. It's just a tough place to work for various reasons.

Yup, I’m over it. I’ve started looking for another job. I can only give so much.
