Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Question for anyone who works in a fraud team

I work for one of the fraud teams at Wells Fargo, we keep loosing more and more people, either leaving the department to go to another investigations team internally or to another bank/job. Our weekly case amounts have now increased to levels that I don't think are sustainable for most of the investigators. Our direct management is saying that the managers above them are not listening and don't seem to have any plan. Our department used to have a real goal when I started and now its just filling reports as fast as possible to survive and keep up. The quality of the investigation or reporting the fraud to LE doesn't matter anymore. My question is are you seeing this in your fraud department?

Just in the last couple months several people have left the team and our teams aren't that big to start off with.

I am looking to potentially switch departments

I was on the AML side and it was the same story over there. It started before Covid, but increasing, unreasonable caseloads, and no letup on the "depth" end of cases to balance it and help get them out the door. Totally inept management- inexperienced lower management or law enforcement old guys hired for the optics. We were understaffed, kept in the dark, subject to arbitrary changes constantly. Really the worst investigation group I've been a part of. We're in a non-hub location so no backfills were a part of that (as well as no real career path when they put the kibosh on our location doing hiring last summer).

But don't get down, if you've got experience I suggest looking around, there's a lot of external stuff out there. I'm at a fintech now and it is better in every way, a real breath of fresh air.
