Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Hopeless

I’m in near tears almost everyday because we are already shorthanded and people still call in sick. Some days we are down to 4 people total. Some days 3. I’m a single mom and one of the last full timers left in my store. I planned on building a career at Verizon but now I just want a vacation without out feeling guilty. Sucks

Single moms make bad choices. Pick your men better.

I worked for Verizon for 20 years before I was laid off during the last round of cuts. I was always loyal to the company and I thought I did make a career out of it. Two things I realized after I was let go,

  1. I will never be loyal to a company again, especially a large corporation like Verizon. I was a number, not a human. I am now loyal to MYSELF and I always keep my options open. I landed a job within a month of being let go and I just interviewed for another job that may be a better opportunity. Always be loyal to yourself, if a better opportunity comes your way, jump in it.
  1. I am in the mindset now that I work for myself, not for a company. If a company isn’t treating me right or I feel underpaid or undervalued then I will be the one to fire the company and move into something better.

Verizon made me feel like I would never find a company that will pay me as much as Verizon. I felt like, “this is as good as it gets and I can’t start over.” That’s all a bunch of BS. There are many opportunities out there, and more opening up now more than ever. There is life after Verizon.

Don’t ever let a company/job bring you to tears. Take your vacation and explore opportunities. There are many things to shed a tear over, Verizon it any company is not one of them.

career at Verizon ha ha that's funny.

I had that pipe dream at one point until I tired to apply out of retail. Being told I did not have the experience. Before Verizon I had 10 years of direct related job experience I was applying for.

Verizon sucks donkey di-k
