Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Inflation is over 4%! If history proves accurate, those of us who aren’t displaced this year can expect a half percent raise in 2022.

It's hard to empathize with your concerns over $4 gasoline when you precede it with "half white president."

@1jog+1aPr9WsV,
Our embarrassment half white president once advocated for and spoke passionately about how $4/gal gas was okay. And we soon had it.

WF is hardly alone with the lying. Most, if not all, big corporations do it as do the politicians who are happy to avail themselves of the political contributions. It's a suckers game and we're the suckers.

@1ejn don't forget that WF lied about what they were going to do with the tax cut.

"Right after Republicans passed their tax bill in December, a number of companies delivered public thank-yous with a series of bonus and investment announcements they said were pegged to the legislation. Wells Fargo was one of the first to do so. It announced plans to donate $400 million to nonprofit organizations and expand other philanthropic efforts and said it would raise its minimum pay to $15 an hour. (Wells Fargo’s CEO made $17.6 million last year.)

“We believe tax reform is good for our US economy and are pleased to take these immediate steps to invest in our team members, communities, small businesses, and homeowners,” Sloan said in a statement.

As with so many of the tax cut-pegged corporate announcements, Wells Fargo’s goodwill was not what it seemed. In January 2017, the bank announced it was lifting its minimum wage to $13.50 to $17 per hour — before Donald Trump had even been inaugurated. Moreover, when the bank reannounced its wage hike in December, a spokesperson initially told the LA Times the wage increase was not tied to the tax bill, only to later backtrack and say it was."

That's interesting. I haven't seen any difference at all. When the former guy was in, they took my money, gave it to large corps like the one we work for who used it for stock buybacks and are now laying us off. The new guy takes all my money and gives it away in welfare and stimmies. The gas prices went up a bit this week with the cyber attack but net-net, nothing has changed.

Since the oil industry pricing is not regulated, exactly NONE.

Hm... I wonder how much influence an administration has on gas prices.

We were all working. Gas was cheap and two of us were able to afford longer commutes for much better paying jobs. We are a mixed racial family and two of us had our best paying jobs ever. Now gone. We have always been Democrats but I think they are now for the rich and Trump was for real working people. He was like Democrats used to be 40 years ago before they all got rich and run banking. Trump saw the people’s that Democrats left behind. Everything different now parties switch their places

@soi+1aPr9WsV, exactly how was it better economically for your family? Was it actually better for you, or did you just feel like it was better?

@soi If you call $4/gal sky-high gas, but you've had 4 years of prosperity under the former guy, you obviously have horrible money management skills.

Us west coasters deal with $4+/gal gas on the regular, but you don't see us throwing hissy-fits over it.

Maybe you should learn to live within your means.

On Main Street we sure miss Donald Trump. Best 4 years ever for our poor little family. Back to sky high gas, a big 4% inflation and half of us on unemployment. I know you rich folks here vote Democrat but we can’t afford to vote ourselves any deeper in the ho-e.

@jsf. If certain people would get off their a$$ and decide to actually invest in THIS country via infrastructure which has been lacking for 30 years and all the jobs which would be creating by going green as you put it, the economy would be hopping like crazy.

But certain folks like to play obstructionist rather than helping the country. I guess we’ll learn the same lessons Rome and England learned the hard way too.

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

If you think this is due to the current president, you are filling yourselves. It was obvious Wall Street has been manipulated to make the economy look good while people on Main Street weee suffering, and still are. Now the power brokers are finally seeing what happens. Poor them. They might have to forego that extra house or yacht this year.

Inflation is much much higher than anyone at the FRB or in Government is willing to admit. It's the direct result of massive money printing and "free money" from the government. "Stimulus" is fools gold. People are all happy about it in the short term and have no idea what a terrible burden it will be in the future. Like everything government does, it's horrifically inefficient and has massive unintended consequences. But never mind the man behind the curtain, let's focus on "racism" and "going green" while the nation's finances circle the drain.
