System QA associates/ QA Analysts layoffs?

Yes , if manual testers upskill to automate, then there will be lesser manual work leading to layoffs of manual testers. It does not make sense to upskill all of them and retain all of them?

My understanding is that all manual testers need to be trained up to do automated testing and that all current software developers will be doing their own QA testing and that they are only hiring developers who have automated test knowledge

A simple answer is that no one really knows. I would think that there are around 2k onshore QA titles. Even If they converted 50 percent to engineers then they would still need to cut around 1k QA roles.

So QA tittles will be converted to software engineers, if they are able to write automation test scripts??

QA Associates and QA Analysts will become Scrum Masters and Software Engineers. 😡
