Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Do you ever

Do you ever just want to wake up and send your email that says "I'm done, put a fork in me?" I feel like that today. This place wears on you, it's toxic, uncooperative, sterile, cold, disengaging, and brutal. You fend for yourself, every single day. The amount of cognitive dissonance I have working here is off the charts. Time to get moving on interviews and move on to greener pastures.

Retired as well. Kept waiting for a package but Chainsaw is good at making life miserable and waiting out the attrition. Amazing feeling.

I did, last December. I turned in my notice and retired (I am not of traditional retirement age but 'qualified' as retiring due ti age and llength of service). I had, simply had enough. I prepared for the move by having myself completely debt free. Like the first person who replied, I've lost weight, have lowered by meds, my blood pressure is lower and my disposition is much happier.

I spent two decades there and the last 2 years were just brutal for the level of incomprehensible decisions coming from the C suite and the general overall lousy manner in which employees were being treated. I pop on here a couple times a month to see if there has been any improvement, it does not appear that there has.

I'll start to look (maybe) for another job in late Fall. Until then, I am using the time to decompress from the toxicity of being in a wagon pulled by a team with the runs.

I’ll be ok until I get another scheduled meeting to go over the same problem that I already provided answers and tasks for, just the people on the invite don’t want to take the initiative to actually do it. It is crazy making to provide the same answers over and over, especially when the people who keep asking are senior and probably making more money than you and you can barely get through the workload (that keeps increasing due to their redundant “initiatives”) much less getting interrupted multiple times a day with this stuff. 100% of the time the meetings have 5-10 people on the call that do nothing so it’s such a waste of time.

I get so much anxiety trying to navigate through this; I’m also looking currently. Part of it is honestly my put your head down and get things done personality really clashes with this weird bloated culture. It used to be something I could handle but the steady drip of increased angst over the last year has made it unbearable. What is helping me is mentally telling myself I can leave whenever I want. I would just rather it be with employment lined up. I’m also putting down harder boundaries on unnecessary meetings - ie, can this be an email or I’ll outright decline. It’s clear to me I’ve got zero path of advancement anyway so I’m not sure who I’m trying to impress anymore. Certainly the people asking for these meetings never seem to understand enough to know whether I’m doing a good job or not

Anyway, no, you’re not alone. It’s taking me longer and longer to unwind on weekends before the dread hits me, and sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.

Who cares about up or down vote. Don’t be so sensitive. Strangers reaction from a message board not your family. Why worry about collecting approvals

Powering through sounds awful masculine, but when you recognize a bad situation, and know it won't improve, the rational decision is often to throw in the towel and move on.

It's hilarious how many people downvote anyone they isn't in 100% lockstep with their opinion, then they point the finger at others for creating a "toxic environment" as if their own intolerance isn't toxic.

I was laid off in October and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I like the culture at the bank I work at now. I’m so much happier.

I don't, but I'm getting my skill set up to current standards and I can't say I'll be sad when they let me go.

Wells Fargo has been great for me. I've worked 4 other banks, this is best one by far. I think there's a whole lot of people on this forum who haven't been at other banks to see.

Mine just says Resignation in the subject line. No explanation. No content at all. Just one word that says it all.

Good luck with the interviews and the new job. Won't be any different.
Retirement is key.

I could say that about most jobs. It’s why they call it WORK, and we look forward to retirement so we can do what we want.

Though I admit, the last 2-3 years have grated on me under this clueless buzzword management staff that are heading down the same road that derailed their previous employers.

Last night I couldn’t sleep thinking about the same. Can I just wake up tomorrow and say I am done? I see that time is very close for me.

Retire! It's bliss. I've lost 50lbs and dropped 3 prescriptions!
