Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Corp comms continue implosion

Anyone understand what is happening and how many people will lose their jobs end of May? Hearing massive restructure with huge talent drain. As if it could be worse. How will work get done with no team and continued talent drain, morale destruction?! What could BR be thinking and what happened to risk management which we have been told is our role for years?? Maybe the “newsletter” will tell us!

What’s really nice in Meetings and events is that everybody appreciates our cheerful attitude, non stop work ethic and the sheer hours and effort that we put in. I can tell you Corp Comms folks a little secret… be positive, contribute and for heaven’s sake could you just try to smile every now and then?

You can’t sow misery and reap sunshine. Few of you could ever match our work week and sheer determination to get it done but to be honest it is all possible with a positive attitude.

Try it for a few days starting tomorrow morning. You will be shocked how much easier your day will be and how much cooperation you’ll get.

Group agreement: No one upload anything into CX for the rest of the month. Hah!

I hope when I get my pink slip from Corp Comms that it’s delivered as an offensive, tone deaf, and juvenile poem.

Maybe Barri will share more during her upcoming all team call. From what I hear from other employees across WF, layoffs usually occur towards month end on Thursdays. But I’ve also heard of things just happening out of schedule.

I just really hope that it is delivered in a poem.

Unfortunately this is happening or has happened all over the bank. Chucky and his cohorts won’t be around when it all comes crashing down, just like previous stops. It’s what they do.

Do we have a date other than “end of May”?

Sad to hear it. The Corp comm people I’ve worked with were all great partners.

The only person who doesn’t see the train wreck coming is BR. Get your popcorn and cold beverages ready. One beefy crisis in this new model should be enough for it to implode. It will be excellent.

Sure wondering what kind of brand lift we will get when BR focuses on Good Housekeeping? Consumer media is king? Tell that to the regulators and our asset cap.

Let’s be clear about who delivered re-established etc etc. All marketing under JM and at the direction of TS. Comms had nothing to do with it. Also, in-house agency is marketing, which is apparently beefing up by the day... very different from comms.

That’s Wells! Dead wood, dead wood and more dead wood. Laying off is not happening fast enough.

@sie+1aJVQfVm They did listen to the experts. Remember Building Better? Re-Established? Such expert guidance they gave.

Remember when BD prior to the BR hire said that the WH ran comms with a small team when he worked there, and how it ran with basically one person during the most recent administration? That was the most illuminating thing I heard about the road ahead for Corp Comm.

The In House agency is hiring. I’m seeing ads for Minneapolis and Charlotte. Looks like some groups at least are safe.

I better question is how much more would the company be worth if past (and current leaders) listened to the guidance of comms experts? Also, hope you liked your customized Teamworks page and talking points. Buh bye.

Hearing up to a 40% cut in the team by end of month. That's in addition to the cuts that already happened. Wait until other bank leaders realize their comms support evaporated overnight in the new model. Would pay to see an agency fill those shoes. BR and most of the new leadership wasn't around for the sales practices drama. They have no clue what a cluster crisis PR storms can be even under the most organized circumstances at WF. God bless all who stay on the Titanic.

There are highly paid people in my group who have been sitting on their hands for months. Others spend their time on make believe busywork. I get hit with arbitrary deadlines, scramble to meet them, then there is a direction change and the work is rendered useless, or just put on hold with no explanation.

It’s beyond frustrating and I am no longer able to pretend enthusiasm for work that I know will go nowhere. I have started looking and have been pleasantly surprised by the number of opportunities that seem to be out there.

Good luck everyone. We can do better than this.

@mgg - same. I had really wanted to spend the rest of my career at WF, but once I saw what else was out there, I knew it was time to leave. It is easy to be complacent, especially after years with a company.

I'm so much more relaxed and happy in my new role at another company. Best (and hardest) decision of my career.

Best of luck to everyone still holding on through the uncertainty and change.

I recently left Corp Comm for a different company and suggest others consider the same. I see some people on here who want to stand and resist the push for attrition and I wonder why. There's more growth, more money, more work-life balance, and far less drama elsewhere.

How much revenue does Corp communications bring in? How do they control firm expenses?
