Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Just remember, brick-and-mortar retail is an overall sinking ship. Especially the ‘mall department store’. The grass may appear greener at Dillard’s, but for how long? I imagine Dillard’s has their own plans on how to cope with the shifting retail climate; but they are not immune. Good luck to you! Sorry Dillards is a horrible place to work. I have worked at 3 department stores and they were by far the worst.

Be sure to ask Dillard's what happens to your pay rate if you don't make your sales goals, and also what happens if you are late a few times.

Wow sounds like me 22 years and making $11.05 hr. Glad I am out.. Macy’s is getting TOO POLITICAL, if you don’t agree with their rules and regs say Bye Bye, no one is your friend , management is stepping on everyone to try and climb to the top. It’s all about them and they take ALL the credit. You don’t exist only when they need you to cram a weeks worth of floor moves into an 8hr shift! Wow, so Dillard's has stock in actual name brands? Our store has lost Polo, Hilfiger, Nike, Free People, Kitchen-Aid, and several other key vendors so far this year. Had to walk the store with the new leader this week and answer questions about what I as a Sale Manager am doing to recapture lost sales, don't know where they found this guy, but if he thinks we can recapture the millions in lost business that these vendors brought in by selling more Macy's branded merchandise he's got another thing coming. He asked if we were holding people accountable to make up our sales drop when we don't have what our customers expect at Macy's when we have a ton of open jobs we can't fill due to nobody wanting to work here or the new hiring system or both depending on who you ask. Why can't we get these brands when every other retailer in the mall has them overflowing out of the stockrooms?

you broke the macys spell and looked out of the misery to find gold and the grass is greener anywhere else.. your learned helpless was over ridden by complete and utter stress of that dump. even if you only work at dillards for a year mentally it will be better

Our store pays so little that it has become the go to place for any retailer in the mall looking to find experienced retailer employees, we have previous colleagues at every large store in the mall and they all left for one reason, more money. If you are working retail, Macy's is a great way to get your foot in the door and then get a job someplace else making a lot more.
