Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Store is closed due to somebody got COVID in the store.

They asked us to quarantine and not to come to work. Verizon is forcing us to use our personal time/vacation time during the quarantine. They are not even allowing us to work from home. I have enough vacation time to use, but I am planning major time off for life changing event. This is going to negatively affect my plans. This company is totally tone deaf. Don't trust HR to be your advocate. GMs are scared to lose their job as they follow whatever coming from the DMs. DMs are totally useless to help in any situations. Anyone who is thinking working in a retail should stay away. Stores are not safe. No support from management. Morale is really bad. Most people hate working in stores with survey driving commissions.

If your store is closed due to covid related issues you shouldn't have to use your accrued time because its not your fault. your time off while the store is closed should be CODED AS "BUILDING CLOSURE". dont let them play you!! and have them tell you, you have to use your vacation or personal time.

I believe they switched it to if you do rto they use vacation time for the person who self reported unless they have a positive test.

Every store that has closed by me and some have closed multiple times when they the Covid team and didn’t take any vacation or personal. You need to hit up your HR person. That’s ridiculous

acl+1aBHDFrU Get a life dude. I am sharing exactly what is happening in my store. I don't care what you think about it. Let others share their experiences so I can talk to the Director and HR. Please post if you experienced COVID closure and if you were forced to take vacation. They are not offering us work from home or calls

Nope. False it literally goes against written policy. There is no way this is true. You could literally fail the RTO and then they physically couldn't put in anything other than paid leave

Anybody who says this is false does not know anything. This is 100% true. I am at home now, forced to take a vacation. HR says to this is the new company policy. Store is in the pacific northwest. I would write the name of the store and DMs name. But, I don't want to be retailed.

My store was closed due to someone getting COVID, they had us do mva calls from home with our ace device and we were paid. Honestly we were able to get like 30-40 done each I. A couple of hours and were paid for a full shift. Call HR, the only way you should be using vacation time is if you’d rather use that than work from home.

Nope they have to give you the work from home option and if you don't have good working internet at home, then they can't make you. Call HR and if they are being not so bright, call the labor board.

Call HR. if the store is closed, they should be using the AP (absence paid) time code, not personal or vacation. The only time you should have to use your own time is if you came in contact with someone but can't provide their test results. It's still wrong in my opinion, but thats not your situation

I’d call it out specifically, This District is screwing its people . Make the DM accountable. They are screwing you because so many took advantage of COVID in the past. Don’t let the sins of the many cost you time.
