Why why why would you quit over the WFH issue when that's exactly what they are hoping you'll do and they'll jump for joy if you actually go through with it? This is their way of getting rid of as many people as they can without paying them severance. If you leave on your own all you'll be doing is fattening Charlie's bonus. With the cuts they have in mind, you have bigger chances to be laid off then not. So stay and let them lay you off and enjoy the extra money and the satisfaction of knowing you screwed them over.

“I don't think there's any real employees on this board. Banks doing great and most are going back to the office in Sept, get over it.”
Don’t give people like this the satisfaction of a downtick. They are out here just to get under your skin. Ignore them. Stop rewarding them for being a–holes.
I agree with previous poster, dont quit, wait to be layed off or fired. Too many people fired will cause an investigation to unlawful practices.
On the other side, they want you to quit to make their life better, but stand strong and just keep collecting the checks as long as they are coming into the bank.
I do agree this is by far very unethical practices and violating labor laws in a huge way. Collect all the data you can, store it in a safe place where you have it for when the time is right. The companys bad reputation is on your side.
This is by far the worst advise I have read on here. “Don’t leave the company, wait for them to fire you/ lay you off.”
For starters, it has always been easier to find a job and be picky with your options while being gainfully employed. If you are laid off you are much more likely to settle for another bad company/role just to get income coming in.
I understand if someone is close to retirement but for the rest of us who need to be gainfully employed, waiting to be laid off to somehow “stick it to the man” because you hope they pay you a severance check is terrible advise. It’s not even funny how utterly stupid it is.
Go find a new job, chances are you could earn more, have a better schedule, benefits package, who knows but you’ll never find out if you wait around here. It’s like staying in a bad relationship because you want to get even with your spouse. Life is too short.
I personally have never seen this before in my life, to the previous 2 posters, they probably wont care if people drop dead, one less person to pay.
Wonder what is wrong with the Exec's here, maybe they are on the chopping block and trying to get rid of people at any cost. Worst thing I have seen in my entire life, probably could make another good movie like Blair Witch, but this one is true.
Sounds like an issue specific to a manager or LOB, no bullying or getting blamed for stuff out of my control over here. Sorry you're going through that. Best of luck!
I agree but what they are doing just boils down to bullying. Constantly getting dinged for things you have no control over. Yes pay is good but a person can only put up with so much before they break them down. They don't care if you drop dead tomorrow. Wanting 10 + hours per day and that's still not enough. It's scary to say but someone is going to go postal and I hope that I am not in that day.
Freeze out vs. Layoff.... It's happening!!! Really stinks. Feeling very unwanted after 14 years.
I'm guessing because most people act in their own self interest (as they should) regardless of what the company allegedly "wants". Why limit your options based in assumptions about the desires of some group of people you've never met? Makes no sense. I'm going to do what's best for me, if that's opposed to what the company wants 'oh well'. Ditto if it's the same as what they want. Ditto if it's kinda what they want. These guys are really living in your head OP.
I will do what works for me with absolutely no consideration given to what works or doesn’t work for WF.
@gnw+1a9yb0LV, you think when you get layed off you will be hired for this pay and useless tasks again? Do you think that is a good salary?
I personally wouldnt pay those types of workers anything
@yeq+1a9yb0LV I correlate Salary to Workload and Response. I don’t get paid to trudge through a mountain of mundane tasks everyday. I get paid to accurately bang out complicated issues as fast as possible whenever needed. Low 6 figures to basically hang out for what has been up to two weeks doing absolutely nothing is fair compensation to me along with all of the ancillary employment benefits.
Me and my team just send emails all day and our job titles all pay around $150k a year
goodness, what pays well here? I must have missed that boat, its about 40% under the industry standard
I like working here, pays well, lots of time off, good people.
Did a middle schooler create the original post. How childish. Totally agree with others, if you are miserable in your current job, pickup your cojones (assuming you still have them) and go somewhere else.
Another option: if you are miserable and unhappy, go find another job and leave proactively. Why stick around just to "screw them over" and continually post derogatory comments on this board? Choose to be professional and optimistic.
This is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you are unhappy at Wells for whatever reason — including the WFH situation — and are fortunate enough to find a new job with more flexibility/less stress... you’d be dumb not to take it. The only person you’d hurt by staying = yourself.
I don't think there's any real employees on this board. Banks doing great and most are going back to the office in Sept, get over it.
@OP it's not exactly that easy, which is exactly what executives are counting on.
A single, full-time WFH parent who had the ability to pick their kids up from school will now have to pay for after-school care. Someone who built their budget around not paying for gas and additional wear and tear on their car now has to factor in those costs.
Don't live close to a hub office for your job? That's hours out of your day just to show up in some office location and cost WF electricity. All so that they can feel good that you showed up to collaborate with nobody since your job is 90% self-directed and the closest person on your team lives 6 hours away.
Some people don't have the flexibility to easily stick with this in order to play the 25% chance of a severance package game. Management knows exactly who they're targeting with this policy.
Literally, 4 years ago they were running out of space and ran badge reports. Everyone who wasn't in 18 days a month min. go booted to flex seating (though some of us travelled and couldn't be in 18 days a month!). So then there weren't enough flex seats to accommodate everyone so people say screw it and just worked at home - if you want to boot us out of our seats then we'll just work from home. So then to turn around and tell some of post-covid we have to move to another state at our own expense to be in an office is not gonna happen - the height of bi-polar ridiculousness! I'd take the package and say GFY! Zero commitment to people, zero!
Some businesses cancelled their office space with CPG during covid because they don't want to pay for the expensive space, then told us all we'd be permanent remote b/c they're trying to keep lease costs lower. So, I think it will be business by business decision because some of the heads of LOB don't want to pay expensive space to CPG because they say many of these jobs can be WFH.
It's all ridiculous - the lack of transparent policy, consistency, etc. Nobody can plan anything, where to live, etc. It's as if it's designed to confuse and frustrate you! Then, if I want to get a different role (post for) all of those are "oh you have to move to these cities." The roles I have been in, every one of them, THEY made the decision to reduce office space and boot us to Remote status citing costs as the reason!
Umm, because I want to WFH more than I want to pretend I stuck it to the man
