Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I made my decision

If I can't continue working from home or at least using a hybrid model I'm gone. Not to mention, their reasons for wanting everybody back in the office seem like a load of bullc-ap. There are plenty of other companies that have more competent leadership that can recognize the value of WFH and plenty of them are hiring. We all have a choice and I've made mine.

Dude, it’s called “going to work” and thank god we all have cars now, so much better than bus and BART.

People, this is why it is called “Work” and why they pay us money. With the money we can afford to live our lives and also afford to “Play”. Its only been this way since the dawn of civilization, so sorry to spring it on you so late.

The only real thing new here is this entitled generation. I blame your parents children for spoiling you and I spoiled a few of your generation as well. If I had it to do over I’d raise you like my parents did. We understood work, believe you me.

Not sure if he was joking or wasted but I seriously doubt that God cares about Schart’s work from home policies.

Lucky for some of you here there is no IQ requirement to post , otherwise most comments would be left out.
Really amazing to see so many whiners. When did it start that so many people become expectant that they were owed something for nothing. This is a job, otherwise known as work. And it is work for someone else. That scenario has always meant - take some c-ap and keep working. If you have a job you like, bonus. Now if you want to make the rules and decisions for those around you then you need your own business.
Work From Home served a purpose but if anyone thinks the overall productivity is close to that of being in an office you are wrong. Great propaganda to say it mid-pandemic but as we see signs of coming out of this we need to be realistic about production. It is not even close. And the reality of today's workforce (not all but many), management knows you are not working to be your best or even close when no one is watching.
If you find yourself needing to go on line and complain in this manner, you are most likely the biggest problem in your work area.

@OP , good on you for making a choice. The reasons and bs behind it don’t matter. You feel if X version plays out it is not in your best interest so you will redesign the equation. That is the single best choice anyone can make.

For anyone and all who are beyotching about long commutes or whatever other dribble drabble is coming from your mind to your fingertips, get a grip. YOU chose to live where you live and work where you work. YOU and YOU alone. No business tracked you down. Time to hitch up your big boy pants, become and adult and flip the script to fit your needs. Or keep complaining here, that provides me far more entertainment than you leaving.

Called a Dry Layoff, other companies have used this same tactic so its nothing new. Honesty if you leave that would be what they want, you wont be hurting the company in any way but only helping them in the financial disaster they have.

Just communicate with them in vietnamese , perhaps they wont understand. You can say workers have language barrier, couldn't understand what they said.

All going back in office when it has been proven 1. a strategy to get rid of people who always worked from home and 2. to justify shutting non hub locations down!! If CS was so concerned with "all being together" he would have moved to San Francisco and he wouldn't be shipping jobs to India. No one is so stupid to not realize this c—p. How dumb do they really think people are? Oh wait, they do think that like when we get raises that don't even cover cost of living raises and every employee that is not an executive has no idea what is happening in the company unless they read the internet.

It will be up to the LOB. They even mentioned that this isn't a one size fits all situation. Give it time. Some people just can't work from home and shouldn't. I know some channels are already lobbying to work in a hybrid approach

Every single internal role I have interviewed for is in office after covid. What does that tell you about their plans for post covid?!

OP,, good for you. Stand up for yourself. You have other options. I left right at four months ago for this very reason. My leadership started making comments about “when we get back....” and I thought “no thank you, you can keep it”. There are way too many options out there. Believe it or not, most employers are not pushing to get their team members back in an office. It’s an outdated work model that is more about micromanaging people than productivity.
Now I’m in underwriting. Before I was in compliance and it only took me about a month to find a new gig btw.
You have options

I worked in a branch from the beginning of this until I was displaced last December. As a 'boomer' (overheard young team members actually call me that) with pre-existing health conditions, it was beyond stressful. Between the anti-mask conspiracy theorist customers and dealing with team members who felt the same, as inconvenient as it was, it was actually a relief to be displaced. Between the continuation and severance, we'll be Ok while I start the 'final' search. I'm 5 years from retirement and frankly, at this point, I'm tired. If I can find a "decent" paying job with benefits for the wife and I as well as less stress and internal vitriol, I'll take it. Heck, even remote work would be a breeze compared to dealing with the drama and ignorance I experienced at WF. Nearly anything would be a 100% improvement.

BTW.... Raise your hand? Get displaced.

Yep. If it was good enough to keep business going while you needed employees to work remotely... then those who want to continue to work remotely should have the choice to do that.
I get that there are people who do better in an office setting. Let them do that. Along with the leaders that just have to have someone sitting in a seat, in person, to feel like they have 100% control.

Those of us working in the retail branches during this pandemic never had a choice to work from home unless you were "high risk" (which many claimed to be). I'm glad everyone will be going back to the office like rest of us.

They’ve developed a WFH model that is successful. They preach about the need to cut costs. They have an opportunity here to dramatically cut costs by eliminating office space. And now they want to force everyone back in. The “leadership” here has always been their own worst enemy. One poor decision after the next and the hits keep coming.

Additionally, Charlie can’t make a decision without following Jamie around like a puppy.

I agree wholeheartedly! The "idea" that "employees will be better off" working in a tiny little area next to hoards of other men and women is a psychologically, mentally, or emotionally good thing is ludicrous! LOADS of employees spend 2 hours (and sometimes MORE) on the road, in terrible traffic. That does not ADD ANYTHING beneficial in terms of emotional or mental wellbeing. They make their way in traffic for 2 hours (AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES..THANK YOU WELLS FARGO FOR ANOTHER SPLENDID ADDITION OF YOUR NON CARE FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES!) only to end up sitting for 8 to sometimes 16 hours in an uncomfortable chair/position on that stupid phone for hours on end and for WHAT? COMRADERIE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME WELLS FARGO! Your employees don't HAVE THE TIME FOR THAT BULLC-ap because they're TOO BUSY ON THE PHONES FOR YOU and they don't have the BANDWIDTH to have "casual conversations". Are you kidding me? CASUAL CONVERSATION AT THE OFFICE?????? They DON'T HAVE IT! So, you'd rather have low productivity? Cause that's what's going to happen! You have a GOOD THING keeping most of your employees (save the ones who are tellers and bank support people) WORKING FROM HOME! You're going to give your employees heart attacks, strokes, and more mental illness than this pandemic if you decide to rip your employees from their home offices! Mark my words, you'll be BEGGING FOR THEM TO RETURN HOME PRONTO! What a waste of time and MONEY too! You guys are something else. Btw, God is BIGGER THAN CHARLES SCHARF. IF GOD WANTS EMPLOYEES HOME, there's NOTHING CHARLES SCHARFFFFFF CAN DO ABOUT IT!

Charlie and SVB may as well just say outright that they are trying to make this JPMC 2.0 because this is right out of JPMC playbook from 2006-2018. Stick everyone onsite and hold everyone to an office. The problem is, even JPMC saw that as a mistake.
Or better yet, Charlie should just quickly canibalize Wells Fargo and sell the carcass off to the Overlord known as Jamie Dimon.

I agree with OP's comment about the reasons for going back being BS. In today's video-connected world, it seems downright stupid to put people back on the highways, burning gas, and into offices, spreading germs. I, like many others, feel more productive working from home, and I don't mind putting in extra hours because I don't have to spend 2 hours a day behind the wheel of my car. Plus, I'm more relaxed and focused when I haven't just sat down at my desk after having been cut off and tailgated for an hour before I got there! This BS they feed us about the importance of face to face collaboration is laughable and insulting to my intelligence. Do you really expect me to believe that is any better than Zoom, Skype, or MS Teams?
