Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I think some employees here are not placing enough value on themselves

Charlie needs good employees as much as you need your job. High quality employees are difficult to find. Employees with the right experience are difficult to find. Mature employees who can work well within teams are difficult to find. Employees who can make responsible decisions on a daily basis are difficult to find.

Charlie and WFC have skillfully turned the tables on you and made you think “you should be lucky to have a job” and “you better fall in line or you might be next.” Don’t let them do that to you. Wells Fargo is lucky to have you. If they don’t appreciate you or take care of you or respect you -then you will take your talents elsewhere. It’s THEIR loss. You take your talents to a competitor and help the competition succeed.

Charlie and the Senior Execs don’t know the systems, they don’t know how to deposit a check, they don’t know how to trade, or manage a syndicate offering, or process a home mortgage. If we all walk away, they are screwed. So hold your head up high, know your worth and remember that they need you as much as you need them. It should be a mutually beneficial and mutually respectful relationship and you should expect expect nothing less.

Working on it, got interviews in progress. I din't put up with much sh–. They have nonrespect and their attitude is, if you don't like it, leave. Never have I seen a place with such brutalness, no EQ or desire to make tomorrow better than today for anyone.

Op here. I hear what you’re saying. And I agree with much of it. The point I am hoping to make is to not let this place drag you down. I’ve been there, believe me. But the choices are all yours to make. You have the ultimate control over what you’re willing to put up with and where your life is going. I don’t expect it to be perfect at all times, but I do expect to be treated with respect and I will make plans to leave on my own if something changes. I would rather work for less money in a job where I’m happy. But I feel reasonably confident I can achieve both.

I’m not part of the “If you don’t like it, then leave!” crowd, many of whom are saying that to try to bully people who are having a tough time here. But I would like to be part of a “Take back your power” crowd.

This place chews up and spits out strong, capable, well intentioned people. They don't care. Lots of managers and not leaders with inept skills and interpersonal EQ and core values who are only good at destroying relationships and morale. Again, they don't care! I work for a manager who has lost almost 99% of her team in 2 years, they never connect the dots and want to know why!

While that is true but "Black talent" is hard to find. Wow, we are right in front of you but we are overlooked because of our skin. Once the quota is met they don't care. I've never seen a BLACK DM.

These things are not mutually exclusive, it's entirely possible to feel fortunate/lucky to have your gig AND for the company to be lucky to have you. I felt that way well before Charlie came along, nothing has changed on that front, mainly because I don't define self-worth based on my assumptions about what some far off exec might think.

100% correct. There’s a saying, “You teach people how to treat you.” We all have our own strengths and weaknesses and I don’t consider myself to be above or below anyone else. I refuse to cowtow to or play up to anyone. I don’t think management respects people who do. Get yourself in to a position where life will be much more difficult for your managers if you’re not around. Then you can write your own ticket.

WFC has all the money and insurance benefits. They’re in complete control.

There is no God.

I agree with you; however, Charlie couldn’t care less about any employee other than himself and the payoff he’s waiting for when he reaches his expense reduction goal.
