Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who can explain the Corp Comms call?

Our manager cannot even explain it. How will they implement changes if managers don’t even understand what is happening? How is this the main thing BR has worked on for 8 months?!?! Worse than not being impressed by her, she is not qualified/competent enough for the task in front of her.

For those saying BR is the new JM I would say BR is JM lite. For example, for all her self promotion and stealing if other people’s ideas BR knows nothing of marketing nor brand beyond what Ketchum and third party people told her. Marketing at wells was always about in store ads not tv or papers, so she and JM were both clueless. JM knew branding but relied on a junk vendor. The only branding BR knows is the vendor of the hair dye she uses to pretend to be blond.
Neither were or are good at their jobs and we got them both at what I guess is a very undeserved salary.

OS was clueless but his behind fake metrics. JR never made an effort to lead. I’d love to see the performance review feedback they received from their direct reports. In all likelihood all was kiss butt lies out of fear for job security. Then we get a weak CEO, a senile Chicago spanker, and a agency token to be our new leaders. Between the three of them, there is a lot of political capitol and not one ounce of business sense or class.

@2dtl
JR’s job wasn’t balance sheets anymore that’s part of his failure. His job was communications, Gov affairs, Public affairs which he was terrible at. No debt there.

“BR is the new JM”

At least JM understood how a bank works and could read a balance sheet.

I think I'll have to take a shower after reading some of these comments.

But has anyone seen how much we are spending on agencies these days? So much for cost-cutting.

I miss OS. He actually cared more about WF than himself. His downfall was in not making the leadership take responsibility for the ongoing and egregious screw ups. And you can't really fault him - he worked for them...there was only so much he could do from that seat.

The call was as bad as all of her others. At least she didn't blab on with another offensive poem. When she was hired I spoke to a few people who worked at Ketchum. All agreed BR has a reputation of incompetence, claiming credit for others ideas and work, and generally not deserving her roles but getting them with insincere charm, repeating popular catchphrases, and her fake passion for popular causes.

Did anyone catch this quote in the latest interview? "Trust is a long tail. If you cheat on your husband, you can't just give them a diamond ring or watch to fix it." Excellent analogy for our brand. Bravo!

BR is one of the most self-serving PR people I've ever seen. Until you help right this reputation disaster, you probably shouldn't be self-promoting at this level. It doesn't actually help the WF brand. It has become the BR and BD show...and I'm not impressed.

I bet people miss OS now. After that Stakeholder Relations fail due to JR incompetence we now have another female version of him. It’s been a year since he left and according to his LinkedIn he is still unemployed that should tell you something.

There will be another story today in some industry rag that BR pitched and placed herself about her talking about herself and how brilliant she is, giving career advice to the newly kicked to the curb and her bravery for making the jump from agency to corporate because she’s the first person to ever do it.

If you can’t explain this new structure to your team, get over it. She doesn’t care. Get ready for the next axe and for your job to be replaced with Ketchum. It is already happening.

Comms has been a mess for years because you've got some of the most incompetent people managing it. In my experience, the ones driving real results on the media side are in roles well below their capabilities.

How half of the mangers even became managers is beyond me. Everyone there has been so stuck in 'we don't do it that way' mode for so long, new ideas die at the sr consultant/advisor level regularly. I hope BR truly cleans house from top down. But I feel for everyone caught in the crosshairs. The cuts last week were big...but were they the right ones?

I’m just sitting here eating popcorn - watching this trash fire.

I hope she is at least able to hire some good talent to make this her proposed new org structure actually happen... and that it happens fast. Comms has been a literal mess for at least 5+ years if not longer.
