The issue is that federal tax laws changed in 2020 and you cannot claim federal deductions it defaults to zero. I don't work at WF anymore but I noticed I had to pay much more federal taxes even when I can't claim federal deductions anymore.

@hfr, if you’re getting a “nice refund” then no, you don’t know how to manage your taxes. All you’re doing is giving the government an interest-free loan.

If you are doing it right you try to break even .. but my issue is we are working from home I live in Illinois. But the office I normally work from is in St.louis. So in saying that Mo . Taxes and St.louis city tax is still coming out of my check. Which also if they layoff me off Missouri Unemployment is lower than Illinois. I wish I could change this but I was told only your manager can do that.

Heaven forbid the Payroll Dept who knows your salary could figure out the a somewhat accurate withholding. For 2020 I made a few thousand more (salary) than last year and somehow Wells withheld a few thousand less taxes than previous year leaving me with a nice bill come tax time. How does that make sense?

yep sorry about your luck buddy but you are clueless. your employer is not responsible for making sure the appropriate taxes are taken out. it is on noone but YOU!!!

I got a nice refund because i know how to manage my income and taxes. With that said, you work for a financial institution and you can't manage your own numbers. Go work in a dam factory where you do 1 thing repeatedly throughout the day as it appears that is all you can handle.

This is another ignorant posting. This wasn’t a WF HR issue. It’s also clearly stated on the payroll site about the IRS changes for over a year now. Please get educated before posting ridiculous things.

Apparently you didn't read the email they sent out last year about checking and adjusting your with holding. You can't really blame HR for not managing your personal finances for you.
