I was laid off yesterday. Received an IM from my manager asking for a few minutes of my time. While I am being told my job has been eliminated, I watch my work lap top and phone were being shut down. This was at 7:46 in the morning. Another co-worker hadn't even gotten the call and her equipment was shut down. Why go after admins when it has long been known how wasteful corporate spending has been and still is. People hosting zoom client dinners, ordering 6 bottles of wine and expensive dinners, expensing a bag of skittles and a can of sprite. But if course go after the people that you pay the least.

I hear you.... My "displacement" was brutal as well. Told to come in early, basically given a box and cleaned out my desk. In my life, my experience at Wells was one of if not the worst work experience of my life and I was in the car business for a short time so that speaks volumes! Very hostile work environment, politically charged (team members refusing to follow the COVID rules and hearing how it was all a hoax) and frankly dangerous. As much of an inconvenience being out of work is, it was actually a relief not to have to face that another day.
BTW... looking to get "displaced"? Raise your hand.
Thoughts and prayers
Not only is this unfair, it is totally misleading. There will always be displacements from right sizing, just as there are new hires and client sales events. Obviously displacements do not warrant celebrations but Client Sales and Entertainment must go on for sales or we would have no clients and hence no employees.
At Meetings and Events we are leading the way out of the COVID19 era after a subdued but extremely difficult year of heavy R&R, er... R&D, on new approaches to socially distanced COVID friendly events is finally paying off. Our hard work, extensive research and incredibly grueling travel schedule has led to some real wins and we expect to provide some stellar sales events this year.
We’re going far beyond expensive client dinners, 6 bottles of wine and high end entertainment. We are going to be laying out the ultimate client sales experience in the ultimate environment. Stay tuned, we really think that you’ll enjoy the videos that we are cleared to post.
Admins are remote to prevent s-xual harassment cases. This will save millions however, the bad bosses will still be employed of course.
uggh, they need to get someone with some technical direction, admins no longer needed, only devops and developers. Not the wells fargo devops, but real devops.
What a disaster!
I’m sorry to hear this. It happened to me too. No time to save anything on the computer. There are several admin positions opening up weekly so keep looking at jobs on teamwork’s at home. They are building out new risk teams enterprise wide and hiring Admins for all of them. Also the STAR positions are fantastic. The good news is that the job market seems plentiful and you will likely find something very quickly.
There are companies out there who appreciate their admins. I hope you will find a better job with better pay easily. This is what happened for my cousin. Once she got the better paying job, where she is treated like a valued professional, she regretted staying at WFC for so long. And - she has since helped to find jobs for two excellent WFC employees over at the new company .
Best of luck to you!!!
Whatever. Do you people actually believe this lie???? Why you picking on Sprite?
call your senator.
Call your house representative.
Call your town mayor.
Call your state senator.
Let them know the bank shipped your job overseas and a lot of your peers lost job for same reason.
The bank has over 800 people working in "government relations " for a reason - its becsuse of all the bullsht they are pulling on over 200,000 americans across the country, and they have to slip cash to govt reps to smooth things over.
oh wow, that is a security risk giving the non US citizens access to bank systems.
Also, no need for admins anymore only need developers, those people there can get layed off too. Who is running this show?
I am going to come and show chainsaw all the waste there
A lot people may not be aware, but WF has created a remote admin group in the Philippines. Our admin is there and works the same hours we do in the states - it's just overnight for her. I suspect a lot of admin work is migrating overseas.
Contact Congress, the Senate Banking Cmte has a phone number. Let them know what is going on!
sorry to hear this too, are you an IT admin?
I'm sorry to hear this but admin's are basically assistants to others so if the "others" are getting laid off, demoted etc, admin's will be on the chopping block. IMO we have way too many middle managers with an admin just so they feel important.
Ugh. That really is brutal. May a brighter door open for you as this one closes.
Sorry you're going through this OP, but best of luck in your next chapter!
