They happen all the time. Seriously, if you're not preparing yourself and out there looking for other opportunities on an ongoing basis, you're not doing yourself any favors. You're not promised anything. Your employment with Wells can end when they want it to. Charlie and the rest have been upfront about reducing our workforce. So prepare yourself instead of just complaining and hoping things will change.

Nobody is arguing with your points. We just don't care about your banal, patronizing statements like "Your employment with Wells can end when they want it to" or your sage advice urging us to...apply to other jobs. No sh—we all know that, but the rest of us don't think so highly of ourselves that we need to bless the masses with it.

OP here. Legitimate question: what's the alternative? Continue to hope things get better even though most of the people on this site "hate" the company and the leadership?
I just applied with two other companies. Why wait around hoping it will change when you already believe it won't? Are you willing to risk your family's security over this? If you're worried about being laid off, are you prepared if it happens? If not, take that opportunity now.
There's no condescension intended in the original post. It's more of a call to action, something I realized earlier in the year. Feel free to ridicule or name call, that's your right. I just don't want to wait around hoping to not get laid off without a plan. These layoffs are not in my control, and I've seen plenty of great people in my LOB laid off recently. Nowhere in my contract does it indicate Wells has to keep me on board. I'm expendable.

Wachovia was a better company. Wells Fargo hires anybody on the street. No degree, no experience in financial institutions and bad credit. This company went under after Wells took over.
That is true. Always consider your current employer as a temporary work place. Keep your resume update and seek opportunities like Carlie has. Keep trying, you will find.
