I waited tables for 10 years at some really nice high end restaurants while putting myself through undergrad and MBA school. I paid for all of my waiters jackets, pants, wine keys, etc. first job in banking ing I bought a 5 suit arsenal. it really hurt to outgrow them trust me.
The whining and non acceptance of personal responsibilities is incredible here. What a coddled generation.
With this kind of onerous environment how are we going to afford our body piercings and tattoos? There is only so much $moolah that we can allocate to our wardrobe.
So tellers have to wear button ups and slacks. I mean how much can that really cost? You don't need Brooks Brothers and they aren't expected. Go get some van heusen shirts on sale.

@vtw+1a2EPwvp please. You're telling me they had no idea what they would have to wear when they applied for the job? Any REASONABLE person knows there is an expectation of what they have to wear. If not, they probably do not have the IQ nor critical thinking skills to be a teller.
I think most of you are missing the point. Tellers, traditionally the lowest paid, have to dress in business attire, at a level much higher then office workers. Their peers in other banks are not. They are wear branded polo shirts. The tellers are getting let go as the bank closes branches. Having work at a teller training site, I can confirm this. I think you need to place yourself in their lower paid positions and change your perspective.
It all comes down to "reasonableness", and how the judge interprets the term. If the expectation is reasonable, dress shirt/tie, dress slacks/blouse, the lawsuit will go no where. If the expectation was Armani suits, that's unreasonable.

Professional business attire in banking? Who would have imagined? If you want to wear shorts, tank tops and sandals every day, you might not want to become a banker, or a cop, or a firefighter, or a lawyer, or a lumberjack, or a machinist, or one of countless other jobs that require you to wear attire appropriate to the role. I'm not a tax guy but I'm guessing that if it's required and you aren't reimbursed, there's probably some kind of deduction possible. Either way, this lawsuit is ridiculous.
I need to buy a pair of waders because the BS is getting so deep. Must be hard for a judge to keep a straight face with all these frivolous lawsuits.
Other jobs have strict dress codes and employees aren’t always reimbursed for their purchase and maintenance. I wonder if this lawsuit will get any traction.
I would have never thought this way in the past. But WFC has declared war on their employees. They deserve whatever negative consequences/grievances/lawsuits employees can fight back with.
If WF forced everyone to wear (free) standard uniforms, the OP would say WF is a socialist company. It’s a lose-lose with certain people, it’s easier to just ignore them sometimes. As you can see, I didn’t but next time I’ll just skip these useless posts.
