Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hearing Things

I am hearing about an extension to 2027. Raises of 1%(2024), 2%(2025), 2%(2026), 3%(2027). Retirement 1% per year. Anybody hearing this?

And waste over 30 years of your life stringing wires together rain or shine. After they use you up, they throw you to the burned out, union trash heap with your obesity and type 2 diabetes. Maybe get a few years to use your medical and pension handouts before you take a dirt nap. What a sad joke. 😂

You are here looking for your handout just like all the other entitled slugs. Better learn a new skill old timer or you'll end up like the Keystone Pipeline cry babies. 2023...tick tock! tick tock! TICK TOCK!

Its a Verizon Layoff board blockhead. Not a union message board. It says it in the domain name of the website and at the top of the page...

@7sjp+19wqz1n9 I suppose you did something much better with your life to find yourself commenting on a verizon message board still after all these years. I sense regret. I'd there anything you'd like to get off your chest? Or dumped on it?

Is surplus a synonym for protected future? Hmmm...

I heard flaggers get into the “deemed useless” department simply by making enough poor decisions that eventually lead to health issues which added to the already mental ineptitude, makes them prime candidates. Tell your "friend" show him the way...

I don't like the term copper dinosaur. Makes me seem outdated. I'd prefer something a little more modern say a wooly copper mammoth 🦣

Hey, just wondering, what are the qualifications to land a job in the “deemed useless” department ? What is the job function, and what garage? Asking for a friend.

Protected future? Like your buddies that got sold off to Frontier? Yeah bet they are doing great. Perhaps you will join them someday in the wireline trash heap. 2023...tick tock...tick tock. Times almost up!

I'm hearing things like I wish I were a union member with a protected future but since I'm not I will try to belittle a job that is better than mine in salary benefits and security ....just saying what I'm seeing

Why sit in your truck? Go on disability like the rest of your comrades do...Thanks for validating the worthlessness that resides within the union ranks.

Haven’t heard anything up here in mid-state, but the extension would be nice, but the pay raises need to bump up +3 on all years. I’m not hanging around in the “do not load” gang because I’m deemed “useless” for another 6 years if no significant raises .

Thanks,
Non HPD

Sleeping in a bucket truck or manhole is not "men's work" neither is connecting two wires together on something no one uses anymore. I earn far more from my home office.

If I have to train all these laid off "salespeople" how to do phone work, I'm a no. We need people outside, but they need to have some kind of work ethic. We're not selling earbuds here fer chrissakes, were doing Mens work.

This is 100% fact. What the OP doesn't state is that there is a huge stipulation attached. I don't care to comment here, but just say the company wants to make something mandatory and unless the mandate is included in the contact language, it's NO-DEAL. Question is would the members ratify it with that language? It would literally be a party line vote, more or less, and alot of retirements after 08-2023. This is from a very trusted source. Just remember a hans-backed Verizon is quite woke.

What about the contract for wireless? Since wireless supports wireline and makes all the money, we should get special consideration. I would like a new chair for my home office at least.

Are they going to extend the contract for us brothers and sisters on disability? Being morbidly obese like so many other associates and knowing the the virus comes after us, I decided to sit things out for a couple years and maybe a couple more. I am entitled to my pay and benefits because I was here first. So they better include us in any new lucrative contracts or we will grievance this whole thing. Thank you and god bless.

I certainly expect a contract extension, although I haven't heard of one yet. Too early. It would be far more cost effective to finish building fios in the wireline areas, than to build out the 5g. They have their hands full trying to build the 5g in the areas wireline doesn't serve.

I have not heard that. I'd much rather hear 6 or 6. Or a nice eipp.
