I have been in medium and large companies for 17+ years. Most of those who work long hours do so because they are disorganized AF and can't self manage, set boundaries or priorities. I did more in 45 hours than my peers doing 65 hours, even my old boss said so. Get your sh– together! Set boundaries, learn to say NO to people! I am on a jet plane to Cancun. Toodles.

I put in a huge number of overtime hours, other than the supposed required 40 hours per week. In one of my performance reviews my Manager gave me a review stating that I worked a lot of overtime hours due to ineffective time management and rated me as "Needs Improvement". So that did end ALL of my incentive to work overtime hours, but I still do so in order to keep up with the project work assigned to me. Manager still keeps me working until late hours like 9 PM or 10 PM to help other team members do their jobs with my assistance, knowledge and experience that they do not have.
My former manager told me that I "had too high of expectations from others" followed by "dont email me or inform me of any compliance issues." I was working crazy hours and when I left they hired 4 people to do my former job.
When I used to work long hours, my manager told me it made me look unorganized. Go figure.
If a team member working more than 8 hours or a team member has a habit of sending communication after hours, I would ask the need for it as a manager. It's understandable if it happens once in a while...but if that becomes habit, it's failure of team member and manager.
It means you are ineffecient, my team is not putting in that many hours.
wage slaves!
It happened with me. I work 13. Some are working at weekends. Some don’t work at all.
Fake news not true. If you have this problem it might be with you and your manager. The company does not.
