Probably comes down to personal organization. Even by simply paying attention to the news you should have known whether or not you needed to apply for the COVID stimulus checks. It wasn’t hard to do. Did you even go to the IRS web site? As far as the bonus, people get them by being organized and hard working, which is the same thing you do to get the COVID money.

Putting something on the to do list and following up is better than asking on a lay-off board “Does anybody know if they keep it here?”. You’ll learn a lot about your paycheck... what Wells pays you, what the Federal government takes from you in tax, FICA and Medicare, and most importantly he answers to your continuous question: “Anybody knows does they keep it here?”.

The more engaged you get in your own affairs, the easier your life will be. Good luck on he journey!

Bonuses thar are part of an MBO are not discretionary but mandatory as payout and is determined if you've met the objectives of each goal. Read below. I've had my bonus stolen when I've exceeded or met my goals at Wells Fargo.

https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/tools-and-samples/hr-qa/pages/iscretionaryvsnondiscretionarybonus.aspx#:~:text=A%20nondiscretionary%20bonus%20is%20the,if%20they%20meet%20the%20criteria.

A nondiscretionary bonus is the opposite of a discretionary one. The employer predetermines the specific criteria that is required to receive a bonus, and employees expect to earn the bonus if they meet the criteria. An employer's incentive pay plan that provides additional compensation for exceeding performance or productivity goals is an example of a common nondiscretionary bonus.

Bonuses and raises are not guaranteed compensation. If you didn't get what you wanted, you're likely in line with the majority of the company who feels the same way.

But the reality is we all took our jobs at the pay levels we were offered. Plan your budget accordingly. Don't plan your budget on any type of discretionary bonus/raise that you MIGHT receive.

The policy I've lived by my entire career (10 years, 4 with Wells) is to always budget according to what I currently make, assuming no movement on that until it's communicated to me. And then, if raises happen, I factor those into the budget. But the company, according to the terms I agreed upon, doesn't owe me a raise every year. I believe I'm worth more than I am paid (as most do), but I also realize that Wells gives pretty generous PTO and the 401k match at 6% is pretty high.

So if you're unhappy, be working on your resume and always have your eye out for something else (not a bad idea in general, since we don't know who layoffs will hit). Or, take advantage of the tuition reimbursement and take some classes to help you prepare for another role with or outside of the company. I was able to finish my degree using the tuition reimbursement and then qualified for a higher level position. It took working full time and then doing online classes at home til 9 or 10 at night, but that was just for a short season.

This is just the advice of a fellow team member (sorry, employee) supporting a family of 5 as the sole income earner, making under 60k/year, not eligible for bonuses.

And if course, as someone else pointed out, if you were told you'd be receiving a certain bonus this year by a certain point in time and didn't receive it by the date you were communicated, that's a different issue.

I took it because I actually performed. You, you get my crop dusting.

there's no stolen bonuses, they are not guaranteed. If you weren't "granted" a bonus this year, it was due to your performance. Call HR if you were expecting one and have not received it. The rest of us got ours weeks ago.

Bonuses are discretionary, which means they can't be 'stolen'. If your manager told you that you're getting a bonus during the compensation discussion and you haven't received it yet, report the issue to HR.
