Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Cut the hours and make us leave on our own

Why does it seem to me that they are they forcing us to leave in any way they can?

Even though they are saying employees are moved to other branches, they are cutting our hours, so we will have to leave, I went from a 30-hour week to a 12-hour week. Is this fair?

post @2qzl+19qzFzwd, thread +19qzFzwd - Of course it’s not fair, but it’s obvious what they want to achieve.

We know the reality, just be up front with us rather than lying. Don't try to be a martyr, when in fact, you know the inevitable.

The reality is the branches are going to be the hardest hit in terms of job losses. But this is going to be true of ANY large bank.

Branch banking is on a rapid decline in favor of more digital solutions.

How many people under 40 do you think go to a branch? Under 50?

Sure there are some functions that may require going to a branch like getting a certified check but the reality is keeping branches open is costly. And bankers are able to communicate with clients digitally now more than ever.

I'm not trying to minimize your impact. It s—s when anyone loses a job. But it's just the nature of where banking is today and where it's going.
