Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Holding for WFC Customer Service

I just called the Customer Service # for some assistance with a question about setting up Security Alerts on my WFC accounts. (Wouldn’t normally do this during my workday, but I’ve had some concerning activity on my accounts in general.)

Estimated hold time at Wells is 15 minutes.
Ally answered immediately.
Discover answered immediately.

I think that’s pretty bad. I wouldn’t think any Wells Fargo client would ever be pleased with that. Embarrassing, really.

We need to get our act together. I don’t understand what is the problem at WFC, but there shouldn’t be any excuses.

This is the reason less than half the Wells Fargo employees have any banking relationship at all with Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is a zombie company best they are broken up so the employees get some decent management who know what they are doing.

@1lma, I so agree. So much bureaucracy and bs. It has gotten worse since SVB and JS have been around. So exhausting.

@1ufu+19sH37cV Missed the California decade of rolling energy blackouts and the Enron meltdown in the 1990s did we?

Try calling HR Wells, it's a 2 hour announced wait time. Been this way for months. Had the same problem on a customer service call that ended not resolved. Am starting to bank elsewhere.

@1obi+19sH37cV, bail out California?? Texas is a million times more messed up than California. Cheaped out to DIY in order to avoid federal regs. Failed to maintain and winterize their system, hence the “rolling blackouts” (Which CA managed) turning into multiday outages with power possibly out for weeks. And blaming solar power and wind turbines? Ha! The bulk of the failures are due to frozen natural gas pipes and generators, not “green” energy. Insistence on an independent system with no link to other states means they’re on their own and pretty much sol.

Post ID: @lzb+19sH37cV Yeah, they’re kind of experiencing a rough experience in their ongoing transition to a blue state. Solar and frozen windmills are kinds of hilarious for a state with oil riches. Oh well... next time we bail out California again we will probably include Texas.

I've spent up to an hour on hold with a customer at my desk trying to resolve an issue and I spent 6+ hours on hold with HR after my displacement to get questions answered. SAD!

Come on,,, we can’t layoff 20-25% of our workforce and then get surprised when someone doesn’t answer our calls on the second ring. This should not be a surprise at all.

I recommend moving all Operations and Buildings to the East Coast but nothing further south than DC

OP here:

If it’s a Texas problem, I “kind of” get it. But one would think a company of our size should have the ability to rollover to other states if one state is in the middle of a disaster. Again, Ally and Discover had no such issues.

As far as using the phone vs online. I did go online first. Wells Fargo only allows certain types of alerts, depending on the account. My accounts are brokerage accounts and I had questions about why I could add alerts to IRA, but not non-IRA. If anyone here can answer that question. I’ll be happy to listen.

As far as stock being up to $36 and higher. Happy to see that. But we are in the Customer Service business. If we can’t deliver on the basics, we are in big trouble.

Very weak leadership in this area, the top two layers desperately need to go. it appears the top layer is now “retiring “ in a few weeks so that’s a plus (how the person was even in that job to begin with is mind boggling) . Now time to refresh the next layer with competent leaders

Who's still using the phone? You can set up alerts on the app or on online banking.

Cost-cutting at it’s finest. Let’s see how long our customers are willing to put up with it. My guess is: not long.

Too many other banks/services out there who do it better than us on every level
