Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What does “zz” mean in the email address

Is that a sign of being laid off/fired? Or it means the person left the firm voluntarily? I have a coworker whose email address has “zz” added today so I am just wondering. Thanks.

Zz and zzzzz is generally C.J. after lunch. No need to report it... they all know.

there's also the inexplicable double zz.zz designation.

It also can mean they’re on LOA and their access was shut down until their return.

keep looking in the GAL. there are several iterations of this to denote status.. combinations of z and y, etc.

Yes, they are or will be gone shortly.

I've also noticed a Leverage Ad group in Outlook for those who received notice. Something maybe to watch for if you are concerned

business admin in my org was working some kind of bad back scheme, in and out of office for most of 2-3 years, while out they would zz her then restore upon return.

Generally yes, but not always. If they’ve been away (on leave or otherwise not working for a really long time - 4 mo, 6 mo? Not sure how long), at some point, access is suspended and their email address is prefaced with ‘zz’. I had a colleague who went to visit family overseas last December, then was stuck for ages when the travel ban kicked in. I thought he’d left the bank and checked with his boss who explained. Not too long after, he was back in the US, green on Skype like it never happened. But yeah, if they’re online one day, ‘zz’ the next, they’re gone.
