Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Unfortunate collateral damage

Often not discussed is now that NYC has taken over running WFC after trying unsuccessfully to penetrate it forever, is that those who made a career out this company now have to compete with all the over paid useless “talent” out of that metro area as all good jobs now are including NYC as a location. Stumpf and crew not only wrecked this company operationally, financially, and reputationally , they really screwed the legacy WFC (including Wachovia folks who ran their bank to failure) workers ability to progress their careers.

What makes you think the compliance/audit talent is going to be improved by a NYC infusion? Come to that, what makes you think the auditor talent is the problem? If a group consistently fails an audit, maybe the problem isn’t the auditor; it’s not like they put the auditor in charge of fixing the problems they uncover in the audit.

We desperately need New York Risk, Compliance and Audit staff. It isn’t going to get any better without fresh blood from outside and that should be real top level New York City talent.

We were proven to be chumps for 15 years. It’s time to get true talented OUTSIDE TALENT who actually can help us to clean up our mess, and fast.

@eys+19nd4c5U Sounds lime you don’t work with any of these people so maybe putting 2 and 2 together is tough. it’s the perception that if from nyc and especially if coming from chase you must be great. The reality is outside of a select few at the top, they are overpaid useless talent.

@dos+19nd4c5U There is a thing called long term incentive, which you guessed it, keeps us here, well, long term. Walking away from that plus the amount of PTO from the years of service is not viable for most that are getting LTI and have six figures plus of it unvested 4 years in front of them. That’s why dude.

It is indeed pedantic to call out typos, on a site that goes not allow editing after the fact.

Not to be pedantic but it's actually tilting at windmills from Don Quixote - it's a fair assessment though.

This post makes zero sense. If everyone in NYC is so lame and overpaid, talent in our hubs should be able to beat them out for jobs without breaking a sweat.

Also.... NYC has been "trying unsuccessfully to penetrate WF forever?" Huh? How did I not notice this vast, evil conspiracy?!?!?

There's plenty we can all legitimately blame Stumpf, Carrie etc. for. Their actions hurt a lot of people, including loyal, dedicated employees who hoped to work at WF until retirement. But none of us is guaranteed employment, now matter how hard we work.

You aren't the only person disappointed with how WF turned out, but lashing out over your lack of career progress over the past five years is ridiculous. It's called tilting and windmills, and you should stop. You're only hurting yourself at this stage.

I am not the OP, but I do want to take notice that we sure do have a lot of know-it-all’s on this board who must need to boost their self -esteem with their snarky comments. If only you were so accomplished in your real lives.

Why dont you take a job at JPM, BAC, USB, PNC, or any of the other decent banks out there and rebuild your career to your liking. There are many employers out there. Seeking a new opportunity with better career prospects and more money is on you, not WFC. Take matters into your own hands and stop complaining that its Stumpf’s fault. Trust me, Stumpf is happy and in a good place with all the $$$ he made in his career.

Ah bummer they didn't go below the Mason Dixon line again to drive wages down, it's not like NY is a financial center or anything.

Well by your logic if they have to compete with “over paid useless” talent then what exactly is the problem?

Should be easy to beat them right
