Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Does anyone have any solid info 24/32 work week changes ?

Several months back Verizon offered reps the opportunity to accept a 24 or 32 hour work week schedule. Most balked at making this change for obvious reasons and decided to stay grandfathered in at 40 hours. If I remember correctly they made it seem like they wouldn’t offer up these new hours again and you had to decide by a certain deadline. So is Verizon relying solely on attrition now ? Do they have any solid plans to speed up the process ? Does anyone have any solid info as to what will come in the next few months? The way I see it based on changes and store budgeted hours something has to give on the rep end.

Let’s face it, 5 32 hour workers is the same hours worked as 4 40 hour people. Difference is they don’t get overtime until 40 hours. So 5 shifts of regular hours, until they have to pay OT vice any hour worked over 40 as OT. Makes good financial sense.

Time to get out. The next severance packages are going to be lousy and they plan to get rid of all Indirect acct mgrs and a lot of retail low performers. Ops and marketing will be cut again as well.

Slammed bell to bell? Really? Your base is probably going to die off soon because I don't know anyone who has set foot in a cell phone shop in years. Just geriatric tards who can't wrap their dementia brains around technology.

Actually, the 32 hour Part time opportunity is a good one. Very few places still offer full benefits for a 32 hour workweek.

Its easy to get fired for non sales issues. They out there looking. Slip up and you will be terminated

@lgh+19mCVcce I think doing that before covid and under the old commission structure that would have been a lot easier. Without actual personal goals and everything based on the team structure good luck with pip’s and disciplinary actions. One Team One PIP. Verizon has actually made it tougher to get fired now.

Common sense tells me that there may be one opportunity to take a VSP or take on a new hourly role of 24 or 32 hours. So this will force reps to make a decision and Verizon accomplishes what their goal is. I do believe it will depend on budgeted hours per store and head count. The non sister stores with all 40 hour reps and overstaffed will come first. Forcing reps out any other way could take months or years to accomplish. Offer the package if they dont take it then cut to 32-24 but they must be given a choice or it then gets messy.

There will be no VSP. If they decide to cut, they will cut and it will be targeted. There will be no volunteering.

If you are worried about being forced to 32 you prob are going to be closed down. I am not. My location is nearly on a skeleton crew as is. Most in my area too. We are slammed bell to bell and turn away customers every night. If you aren't busy you aren't needed.

They are not “relying” on attrition. They are using very aggressive disciplinary actions to intimidate and force people out.

I dont think many will take the hours change offer because it really has no benefit and you make less money. My guess is there will be VSP ‘s offered but i dont have direct info on that.

It will be offered again soon. Also, anyone who leaves the business and was 40 hours, will be replaced with 32 or 24 hours. No more FT spots.

They'll offer the option to move to part time again. In fact, my GM said they'd be offering it here shortly as an FYI
