Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Notice to Manager

I received a external job offer a few weeks ago and have waited to give notice due to the bonus payout on February 5th. The bonus payout is now on our paystubs. Do I give it today or wait til end of day Friday? Not wanting to burn bridges but want to get the money I earned in 2020. Could they fire me and not pay the bonus at this point?

You pay them $175K or so a year to work here?

I guess you folks have no idea how payroll works. it's already a done deal and it would take an act of God to stop payment now.

Plus once it's in your account they can't take anything back. All they could do is dock future pay.

Seriously doubt they can/would do anything but it’s just two days. If you can wait, wait.

Play it safe and wait until it's in your account.

Similar situation once. I waited until the money cleared in my account - not just posted or pending - then gave notice.

the bonus payout information was communicated to you previously by your manager. that is a contract that they should not be able to break. Now that you can see it in your wf online paystub means it has been committed and virtually guaranteed. I would still just give notice on Friday after cleaning up all of your wf work flow with a summary of the status of everything assigned to you. if you have scheduled PTO, cancel it so that the books balance right away in time tracker. be careful not to email outside of the company as it might be considered data loss. if you really want to keep a record of something, take a picture of it with your personal cell phone or device, do not use your corporate phone. find your id badge , access fob and rsa keyfob , you will be expected to turn all that in plus your laptop or computer and corp phone. given the current environment, you might consider indicating that you are prepared to stop work immediately but if your manager prefers, you will give them up to two weeks additional work. i would schedule a 30 minute meeting with your manager on Friday morning and have your written notice prepared ahead of time. meeting request might just say something like "personal confidential family matter discussion". enjoy your new job and dont look back on wf, they dont actually care about you.

My vote is wait. Might want to move it, too, if WF deposit.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that your bonus wouldn't be paid...that said, even if it's 1 in a million, why risk it? Just wait 2 more days then give notice then the risk is zero.

be careful, they are a bunch of criminals and dont follow laws or really anything;

I mean its only 2 days, why not wait. Thing is they could still take it back out of your account so may not make a difference

Omg you can tell them LOL. You could have told them 2 weeks ago and you still would have received your bonus. Some people on here just like to drive conspiracy and worry..

You’re not going to be fired in the next 48 hours unless you commit a serious crime. Depending on your role and access, they might not want you to work your notice period and the notice period is a norm anyway. I’d be sure you have all your ducks in a row, cleaned out email, 401k plans etc because I have heard of examples where people are cut off immediately.

The money for payroll is out the door. My own bank posts my deposits as soon as ACH notice is received and settled, tomorrow.

If your bank is WF or another big bank they will hold it back to use the float until Friday. There is very little risk of you not getting the money if that’s your concern.
