Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Victims of backstabbing?

I’ve never seen morale this low at any company I’ve worked for and I’ve been at nike (lower case) going on 12 years. The layoffs and demotions are continuing and everyone is in fear of losing their jobs. Nerves are razor edge and the paranoia is rampant. No one knows what to believe or who to trust. People are back stabbing anyone and everyone hoping that keeps their employment secure.

Someone wrote this on +19aiZHAX and I totally agree. Backstabbing has always been present, but now it is becoming unbearable. The worst thing is that it is not punished in Nike, but is also rewarded.

Remember HR/ER works for NIKE. They are there to ensure Nike’s interests are protected. End of story.

I could have written the above as exactly what happened to me. The backstabbing, lies and mob mentality was frightening and yet I’m still here. HR/ER did absolutely NOTHING to support me and believed someone who has a known track record of lies. My department has gone downhill. I love what I do but the company is really toxic right now.

The internal competition at Nike has created an incredibly toxic environment. Backstabbing as well as retaliation are to be feared - as it could absolutely claim your job or at the very least get you in hot water with HR. It’s unfortunate that HR and ER do not do the due diligence to ensure complaints are accurate and not someone’s (and their small circle of blinded supporters) made-up narrative of a situation. I absolutely agree that every complaint should be investigated, but investigations need to be two-sided in order to be fair to all parties. HR & ER are not consistent with this practice and are not to be trusted. Never count on HR or ER to have your back - even when you stand up to “do the right thing”.
