@xvk it's really not necessary to attack anyone personally. The policy is what it is, no one here wrote it , set the bonus funding, or decided that bonuses were discretionary. Your anger seems to be misplaced.

It happened to me here about 10 years ago. I was on a team that gave you a monthly bonus if you hit your numbers. The monthly bonus payouts were about 2 months behind. When I joined a new department I never got my last bonus that I had paperwork stating I would get. I kept calling my old manager and they just got more annoyed at me every time I asked about it. I finally gave up. Never got it.

Hey Op and all the sympathizers, look up the meaning of the word discretionary and come back here and tell us what you learned

Honestly, FU guys who jump on people because they have purposely been targeted to get poor performance reviews. I have NEVER considered myself to be a victim of anything – it goes completely against how I view myself and the world. I've got two job offers, but I'm sitting on those for a third. I agree that you should look for new opportunities if you're not happy at Wells – but don't minimalize what other people are going through right now. It's real and it's really maniacal. You start to question yourself as to whether this is really happening. It's a corporate gas lighting.

"Love all the negative comments from everyone. Just google Wells Fargo bonus complaints. There are numerous law suits and articles about team members being taken advantage of. There are documented cases of 15 years of Wells Fargo’s wrongdoing. Not a bad quarter or year under some mid level management, but 15 years of theft forced from the top down. This isn’t up for debate.

Being paid the agreed upon compensation isn’t wrong. Stop pretending it is. Stop minimizing your coworkers for something that is well documented. Hope it never happens to you."

It's literally impossible for the company to "steal" a bonus. You are NOT entitled to one. You could cure cancer, bring about world peace, and save the CEOs life by jumping in front of an assassins bullet and you still aren't entitled to a bonus. They are not, in any way, guaranteed, and they are entirely discretionary. The company could announce "no more bonuses, ever" tomorrow if they chose to do so...and it still wouldn't be theft. Read the bonus policy documents, for the love of pete. Are their complaints? Sure, people always complain, it's what we do. Everyone thinks they are a top performer at work, just like they all think they are great drivers. It's not true in either case.

All of that said, don't take any of it to mean that people don't deserve bonuses or that any one person's bonus might not accurately represent the value of their contributions. Mistakes are made in that area all the time, it happens at every company that's ever paid bonuses. Just because it would be 'fair' or 'deserved' doesn't mean that not giving you a bonus, or as large of a bonus as you'd like, is "theft" however. It's not yours to begin with, so it can't be stolen.

hey @mqs+19cjzCKI I googled Wells Fargo bonus complaints you found some, often dubious, complaints about unpaid consumer bonus, not employee bonus. You're just another troll.

@drm

The biggest division at WF is the Consumer Bank. Personal bankers, phone bankers, tellers and other roles are the majority.

If you would like to understand how they feel and how management has treated them, I would encourage you to read the LA Times article about the sales scandal as well as the independent report later published by the external consultant.

I don’t think you have ever worked here, but that obviously doesn’t keep you from having an opinion.

If there is a company out there with more entitled employees than Wells Fargo I would like to see it

I hope the employees who create these posts here don’t reflect the majority of employees attitudes

what do you expect, company steals from their customers and has not sure how many fraud cases even causing Federal Government to step in to police them; I would expect nothing less

I had a bonus taken/stolen from me. Met all the metrics but was transferring and my current manager was not happy with me about it. Filed a complaint with HR about it in early 2019. Was told I’d be followed up with (in 48 hours I think). After a few follow up calls I stopped calling back. After 15 years of documented cases of employees being retaliated against by their leaders for raising their hands for unethical practices I started getting nervous and stopped pushing it. I can’t afford to be unemployed over 5k. Never did receive a follow up call from HR.
I’m glad it never happened to all of you, but it definitely happened to me.

Hey OP, can you tell us what your definition of "steal" is? Also, have you read the policy documents on bonuses? Specifically the part that says you're not entitled to one? It's called a "bonus" and a "target" not "a guaranteed XL paycheck every year".

That's why so many employees at WF embezzle money they feel like they can justify it because their bonuses are stolen. I knew do many employees who were stealing and doing all sorts of misconduct because they felt justified.

You are not entitled to a bonus. So they can’t steal anything that doesn’t belong to you

And if I had to guess, you probably didn’t deserve one in the first place

Only time they didn't payout a bonus was in Consumer Lending in 2008. The board gave everyone in the area $0. Wells Fargo is good on their bonuses though, one of the reason i've stayed. If your got a 1-2, Charlie is giving you notification to find another job.

BS, that's a total lie. I've worked at a number of other banks, the only one that has been dependable at ALL has been WF. Other banks wouldn't pay out a fraction of what they put in the contract. Wells Fargo is highly honorable in regards to bonus.
