Of course πŸ™„.

Oh well, all the other banks probably crashed from the extra traffic too. Yeah, no.

Only at Wells Fargo, still operating in the Hogan era , could you find a techie who mistakes a normal, AND EXPECTED, jump in business volume for a Cyber Attack. People, you just can’t make this stuff up

Surrreee.. It was a cyber attack... on an antique Hogan mainframe systems with no concept of internet connections... right....

People... this person probably does work in tech... how scary is it that s/he walks among us...

It was a cyber attack. WF sites can easily handle the traffic, but it was a tempting target for attackers. Unfortunately advertising this only gives the attackers what they wanted.

Our cloud architecture could not handle the volume. Is anyone surprised? As an application I develop was forced to use the cloud found out in 2017, this was the same experience due to lack of planning and resources from the cloud team. Thankfully, we had some physical servers we could quickly migrate to instead of this failed virtual environment.

We do use the cloud in our group. Wait until the BCP tests coming up, lol.

We’re trying to do everything β€œon a dime.” Ultimately, WFC needs to be willing to invest the money to bring us in to the 21st century. No CEO wants to commit that capital on their watch, so we are going to always be behind the eight ball until that happens. I’m waiting for the big system failure that takes us down for days/weeks or longer. People can’t trade online in a volatile market, can’t access their money, bank can’t see customer accounts - it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.

pathetic, they need to overhaul this department and get qualified workers and management. Pathetic, second time site down, last time another IT issue too. I would fire everyone in infosec and operations. Management and employees.

The one thing you can count on with WFC is that we will fail under any kind of stress test.

they need to move to cloud to use auto scaling and common architectures; i am guessing they are still using the stagecoach. Other banks did not crash.
