I was told from a reliable source that they will be doing "blanket" layoffs to push people out. Are they eliminating/displacing people based on a blanket title elimination? For example, in recent posts, someone mentioned that are they eliminating QA and BSC (recently renamed to Business Systems Sr Technical Analyst or something close to that) positions. Has anyone else heard this?

As BSC/Tech Analyst that was developer previous to WF, I have not heard anything related to this role being eliminated. It is concerning since I do a ton of paperwork now that Agile has been implemented but wear many hats on our team, so hopefully they won't cut this role outright like they did with QA mgr and QA to automation effort
don't think they want the user stories to be written by developers, they want the product owners and the business people to write them. they want the developers to actually understand the requirement and be able to test their own code to make sure that it is working.
They want to push all the requirements gathering and user story writing to developers do they can get the end user closer to technology. The problem is most developers left here have no knowledge of the business or how it works, in fact many of them have just turned into glorified order takers.
The QA issue is another issue entirely. The company really doesn't want QA testers that have any knowledge of anything. As long as they can automation test, that's good enough. No critical thinking needed.
Saul did mention in ask me anything that QA titles will be disappearing, may be in couple of years. He also said people in QA should up skill and move to more secure roles
Developers writing user stories...BAD idea. They have no idea how the business works, just plug and play coders. The days of developers actually understanding WHY is long past.
I am a former BSC that had the name changed to Technical BSC. I was told to look for a role I’d like to do when our team converts to Agile. When I asked if I would be writing the user stories I was told the developers will be doing that now. Basically my role is being eliminated.
If they do, they are foolish. But then again, we have a lot of ex-Chase people here who tried the same thing there and ran it into the ground for several years.
I'm a former BSC recently renamed to a Business Systems Sr Technical Analyst who isn't technical and recently moved to another team. Since they consolidated BSC3 and BSC4 into the one role (Business Systems Sr Technical Analyst) there are a lot of us that aren't technical. To me, this is a sign of exactly what the OP is mentioning but I don't have confirmation.
Yes, QA in titles will be eliminated, the direction is to have all QAs up skill to some type of engineering
