Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Volunteer to be laid off

Questions for employees: Has anyone let their manager know if they need to pick someone to lay off you don’t mind to volunteer to be the person? If so, what did your manger say? How did he react?

Questions for managers: What do you think? Is it even a good move? Letting you know where they stand and volunteer? What will you do? Will you carry out their request regardless if that is what you want?

Of course we have asked...we were met with laughter in our face. Saul Van Useless....too funny. Of course we know those wrongly terminated. Again, no one cares and we seem to have no recourse.

"Credit for tenure"? Since when.

Someone asked this question of Saul Van Useless. No, they are not taking, nor offering volunteer layoffs.

Well, how is her English and communications skills in general?

From your writing I have to side with her... perhaps you should take one for the team...

there is this woman that is super bossy and ignorant in our tech area. She think she is boss, but I will volunteer her for layoff, she has no idea what to do and when.

She fight with new members in our group and is trying to dominate how things are to be done without ever being delegated by manager to do these things. She is taking authority over my work without my permission or consent. She also has no clue how to do things and tries to dump any of her tasks on me or others as she has no idea how to do them.

I have found just ignoring her is the best way to deal with this psycho personality. Lets hope she gets canned next

Laying off is not a bad thing if they do it fairly and lay off the right people. Anyone here know someone who got laid off unfairly or wrongly?

@bbj+19QZ700B/Mr Manager, everyone should be applying for jobs at all times. Especially in a corrupt establishment like this one.

When you think about the concept of using mass layoff to balance the books. Think about that for a second, we are going to use the livelihood of our people to meet arbitrary projections for an arbitrary date. We are still profitable; we just want to be more profitable. In so doing this, destroy our culture, destroy trust, and destroy cooperation.

Then companies are flabbergasted why they can’t hold onto employees, discretionary effort is declining, and they blame millennials, millennials are not loyal. This is not true at all. Millennials are growing up in a world where companies offer no loyalty. That doesn’t matter how hard you work, how good you are, not how good a teammate you are. It only matters if the company misses its arbitrary projections on its arbitrary date, you’re out.

I learned from a friend who wears a body cam at all times. This way when something happens its recorded. I bought one too and wear it as well. This is a great friend I have here at the bank.

@tqp+19QZ700B, that is horrible, not to mention illegal. This is a true example of the wells fargo caste system at its best. I hope they are keeping in mind now everything is on video and big brother is definitely watching. Take a look at these politicians crimes coming up from decades prior, pretty worrisome to think they may wait until they are old now.

This has been asked here before. Don’t do it. An older person in my group tried it when we had layoffs a couple years ago. He was approaching retirement and wanted to save a younger person’s job. He was not laid off, the younger person was, but he was bullied and tormented until he quit. It was terrible to watch.

Hello OP. I am a manager of a small team and I can tell you that I have had to field this question from one of my team members. The lady in question is touching 60 and is a good performer at her level. She has 20+ years in the bank. She has genuinely got the right ideas and means well for the Bank. That said, what she does not know is that I am not in a position to ‘give her a package’. In fact it will be very difficult to justify removing her since we give credit for tenure. This part of the story is often forgotten when reading ‘Wells is the most horrible place’. The bank has some humanity still left. So my person , despite her desire to be on the list, may not get there unless we do a blanket reduction of a team or business.

Finally, if this request were to come from a more junior and newer member , I will immediately assume that the person is interviewing elsewhere and just wants to collect a package from here and also get a new job elsewhere. That I think is unethical and I will have a serious problem with that individual. I guarantee I will not give this guy a high rating.
