Employment verification and eligibility for rehire

Does anyone have specific information on how to find out if WF has flagged a former employee as not eligible for rehire? Also if a new potential employer calls the verification line, does it indicate if the former employee is eligible for rehire or does it only provide dates of employment?

Was it up to you to recognize that a repayment had to be done. Or did they give you all the details and told you to do that but you didn't follow through?

Does anyone know if WF has posted their policy about only disclosing dates of employment and nothing else. HR for a government position has decided to go into jerk you around mode and wants a statement from WF HR, on WF letterhead, that this is the company policy! Id--ts!

Someone mentioned "you would be told when you're let go". While that is true, your rehire eligibility can be changed well long after you're gone and you'd never be notified.

even if you are eligible and would willingly choose to work in this disaster again, cant the manager still block OP if they didnt like them?

You can call the HR hotline and explain you're a former employee applying for rehire and want to confirm you're marked as an eligible rehire in their system. I left on my own and was marked as not eligible because I didn't set up a repayment plan for using the tuition reimbursement program (you're supposed to stay with the company for a set amount of time after the last disbursement and I didn't do that). Once I set up a payment plan I was marked eligible.

If they let you go once, they will probably do it again. Keep that in mind.

I'm just thankful I am out of this pathetic job and workplace. There is absolutely 0 diversity here, that is all smoke and mirrors.

employment verification is done electronically through a service. all they will do is confirm your employment dates - start and end.

Eligibility for rehire is only used for rehires to WF, it is not disclosed to employment verification service. You are not eligible for rehire for a very specific set of reasons, most of which have to do with policy violations/malfeasance of some type. Even if you are fired for poor performance, you are eligible for rehire.

A former colleague of mine was terminated due to a bank policy violation and she was told that she was not eligible for rehire when they let her go. So she was told upfront.

Things may have changed, but I let someone go for poor performance (after several performance plans and lots of coaching) a few years before the sales scandal and... they were marked eligible to rehire. Got the impression they really only mark someone as ineligible for serious policy violations, given the risk of lawsuits.

I was under the impression that companies can't disclose anything but dates of employment. Is that true? Not even confirmation of titles. I'm told they have to be very careful what they disclose, due to lawsuits.

You would just have to call the HR hotline and they will let you know if you are eligible for rehire or not

I was eligible for the STAR program also and had a STAR position, but they kept “going with another candidate “ after numerous interviews I had for regular positions that were the identical position and job title. So I’m thinking that the unscrupulous HR department flagged me as not eligible for rehire.
Did they do away with the STAR program now too? Yikes

When I was severed (I believe due to age), I was told by my manager that I was rated as eligible for rehire and the former STAR program. Apparently the manager selects this status on their computer so you can reapply, assuming you make the second mistake of your professional career.

you mean ask them if your eligible for rehire?

Thing is they are laying off 25% of the company and brining in fresh blood to clean the place out.

I do know that WFC does flag certain employees as not eligible for rehire. Back when WFC acquired WCHV, 50 WCHV employees were let go immediately because they were on the WFC Do Not Rehire list. This included a very high-producing successful FA in Beverly Hills.

But I would not know how to find out if you’re on the list. I would imagine if you were let go for any reason other than true downsizing, you’re on the list.
