Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon wireless supports bullying in the workplace

I personally witnessed managers mock a person of color who had a disability and experienced no reprimand. I saw another coworker get bullied by other coworkers right in front of managers none the less, and get it shrugged off. I was bullied at one point in the job myself by a manager who constantly pointed out all my bad points to the team (even though I had a leading PA) and HR said he was "motivating me" and refused to do anything about it even after I confronted him and td him to stop. I got promoted to another position that was higher up and all my coworkers joined in on pulling practical jokes on the new guy. I was always going to be the "new guy" so I quit after 6 months of this fed up. I had no one to talk to about it and HR only yelled at me saying I was expected to be in this position for a year. I've never confessed this to anyone yet, but now that I'm out I don't care.

I'm reaching out because if anyone else is experiencing something similar, you are better than this and don't let the company push you around. Do what you need to do. I'm so happy I'm out. If someone else is getting bullied and it's dragging you into a depression, it's not you, it's the company. Hang in there and don't stop moving forward

Verizon Wireless is by far the worse company I’ve ever worked for. The people are nothing but backstabber and gossip that manipulate and use their authority to mess with anyone with a lesser title. Then they act confused when you confront them about their toxic behavior. Shame on them. Verizon SU-KS!

And that’s by the people that frequent Verizon corporate stores! The abuse the frontline gets is unimaginable and is usually generated by 3rd party customer service and the people that frequent the stores that they are entitled for something. On this site people make comments that why would anyone go into a VZW store in 2021 and they haven’t gone into one in say 5 years, and thus stores should have no one even thinking of entering one. Well, come to our store in NJ and see what goes on ,during weekends, 3 sales reps with 80 minutes wait times. With customers waiting in cars for 60minutes asking customers why they’re here and what promotions they looking for, they don’t know, then playing the quote tool game then telling them the 40 upgrade fee scenario, then only 20 for in store pickup, digital sale?Yes with a survey hanging over the reps head! People still come to corporate stores in 2021 , Why? only some team in the company that thought of this retail system with understaffed stores is beyond belief! The customer base that frequent store are uninformed and are hanging on ways business was done 10 years ago. Verizon should be ashamed on what’s happening in their stores. And I have to admit, I find it ironic of customers who pay $300 plus for 4 lines of service and still frequent these places in2021 I should write a book I hope the South African variant get before your vaccine in a crowded corporate store!

Verizon retail is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever worked. The comments and jokes that are made and subjects that are talked about at work are so inappropriate.

I have seen bullying, conspiracy, manipulation of numbers and s-xual harassment during my time in retail and management and HR are always more than happy to turn the other cheek. Incredibly hostile environment in those stores

I’ve seen this as well. I wasn’t the one bullied, but saw others, and reported it to HR. The bullies still have their jobs, and the employees that were bullied have left the company and moved on to greener pastures, where they are appreciated for the value they bring to the team and not judged for not wearing their hair the right way, or having s-x or praying differently than their disconnected boss.

I’ve seen first hand the talent that has been lost because of the disconnect between millennials and leaders in the work place, and gen Z is just going to push as hard if not harder than millennials. If Verizon wants to keep young talent, they have to make it a priority to create an inclusive environment. That means holding judgmental leaders accountable.

It’s 2021. We shouldn’t have to still have this conversation.

I have been nothing but bullied in my time at Verizon. I have had multiple managers do this and co-workers. Verizon retail stores are a constant hostile work environment.
