Service Manager

In my area, after some movement the expectation was that the Service Manager role would be re hired at specific slower locations. Turns out they will not be and will be a Branch manager with a banker and teller team moving forward.

It is interesting due to many of our higher level branches having a Service and Branch manager as of right now. Any info on this?

Do you think service managers from small branches will be let go?

I’ve heard from a partner of mine that the Service Manager role would move to more of a supportive role to the Branch Manager for larger branches that exceeds the span of employees per manager in the branch. That means not every location would have one, but could be supported by one from another branch in a case of PTO, call outs, etc.
it makes sense as the tellers are getting increased limits, approval certifications, and dual control certifications. There are also less tellers per branch than there was even a year ago. That eliminates the need for an authorized signer to be present if the tellers and bankers can do that independently.
I expect them to share more after the role changes are permanent in April. At that point, bankers and tellers can support each other with guidance from a Branch Manager.
Again, not confirmed, just something that was discussed. She’s been very tight lipped since..
