If we're expected to do everything under the sun and then some regardless of what our duties actually are (or should be,) than what's even the point of giving us job titles? Just assign us numbers (since that's all we all are anyhow) and be done with it. It would certainly be a more honest system than what we have now.

I was told once that corporate titles, as opposed to job titles, are a way of distributing risk throughout the bank.
People... manual QAs are QA processes which are performed manually. People who do this work are Quality Assurance testers who test manually as an end user would do.
I know that all of you graduated from San Francisco public education but please keep in mind that 12th grade in SF is equivalent to 6th grade in the heartland.
Up your game grammatically, especially if you’re looking to make a career move. Literacy is always a valuable and demonstrable skill.
Misinformation below. Not all manual QAs are called software engineers, just certain ones. We have no idea what criteria they are using.
So they know who to exclude from meetings
Good God people, I can see why Schart is ramping it up. I have never read such whining in my life.
Funny, in sentence 2 you blame people for doing what you just did in sentence 1. I think you found the source of the "toxic" work environment, and it's you.
Heck why are so many Wells Fargo people are overpaid with corporate titles Wells Fargo Business Heads, ESVP, SVP, VP, AVP, Senior Managers, Managers and Seniors but many of us do significant work, reports and projects that Wells Fargo narcissists take all credits look good so unfair for workers. Wells Fargo is a toxic culture where these people abuse that power as they blame, complain, criticize, sabotage, talk lies and b—s—s. Dont trust a bit Wells Fargo people.
Needs more cow be...errr...exclamation point!
What you're describing here is a perpetual circle jerk and circus of clowns! All it is is a moving clowns around, same circus different clowns! They don't care about you one bit! They don't care about people, about your Team Member experience, about employee engagement, about anything but the almighty f—ing dollar! Once you get that, you'll be better off.
In our LOB, they have taken 4 separate groups (75-100 people), who perform completely different functions and now put them all under the same job title which is very nondescript “”Assistant Blah Blah”. (Sorry, I can’t give the exact title, it would give away my exact department.) They are all basically back office but supporting different areas and executing different functions. WFC said this is to make all the employees interchangeable. They now switch those people around like chickens in chicken coops.
On Monday, you worked with a team you liked for Supervisor Bob, who hired you. On Tuesday, they tell you that you’re moving to a new role and new team under Supervisor Linda. They have no say in the matter. I think it’s all very disrespectful and demoralizing. And you can tell when you talk to them, they have had their spirits crushed and they are just dialing it in. And I don’t blame them one bit.
Haven't noticed that atmosphere in my group, seems like it's a LOB issue. What policy changes specifically have caused this in your area?

In previous jobs for, for different companies: I 100% agree with you. For WFC’s current senior management, who has created an “Everyman for himself” atmosphere - I no longer think that way. They have pitted themselves against their employees and are reaping what they’ve sowed.
Yes agreed that we would need to work outside of our job description sometimes to get the work done
But the new change in my team is that all manual QA's are given Software Engineer title, though they are not actually coding and do not even have any idea on programming, Is that correct practice?
Job titles are useless. Our organization changed our job titles four times and we're doing the same tasks.
You're not expected to do "everything", that's an exaggeration. Job descriptions tend to not be all encompassing and there's some good reasons for that. in any case, there's nothing wrong with doing things outside of scope from time to time. Good learning opportunity and it makes the company more efficient. 8 people standing around leaning on shovels because the 2 minute task they refuse to perform isn't "their job" won't get us anywhere. I've done all kinds of stuff outside my job description, and that's just fine.
