coworker

we just were merged with another group, there is this one older lady in our group that move with us, and she always try to dump her work on me as she is not able to do it. The new group some people in it said that she is trying to pull this on some of them too and they think she is lazy too. I am hoping she get moved out of our group .

I speak urban SF street tent, allow me to interpret:

“I still cannot articulate a basic point clearly. I have not asked this older woman (probably over 18 with a degree) to help me with my struggles with basic communications, as I fear that she will ask me a question, even as I need more time to gain basic communications skills.”

When you are dead weight on your team, but you don’t realize it, this is the post you create

I recently move to a new group, so merge with another one. The people in the other group have communication issues and dont share any information important for me to do my work.

Then from my old group 3 other guys move over, they have to be the laziest people on earth. They have been here decades now tossed into this other group with me. I hope this new manager doesnt look at me as lazy as them and unskilled.

I had a similar experience, was moved to new group along with 2 other women. One of them tried to dump her work on me, I politely but directly indicated I would not be taking on her tasks. She even included our new manager on emails as if he was going to jump in on her side. Nope.

yea I am in same spot the lazy ones at top pay while the hard workers at low pay. How is this? Also it aligns as far as intelligence, with smarter the lower paid and dumber the higher paid

The irony is the lazy co-worker can easily make more money than you. I am at least twice more productive than those who are at higher level than me.

@1opt. I don’t mind slow learners but not lazy people. It’s a turn off when you are very capable of doing your job but you play the dumb game so someone has to do it for you. Don’t give me that great teams help c-ap.

yea in our group we have this click of lazy people, who bring in a few new s—ers to do all the work while they do nothing; these are like a click of males . They know less than nothing in the domain. Then there is a tech secretary there, bs'ing he does any work, but only run spell check.

Pretty much a disaster zone there and complete waste of money.

I've had to deal with this before. My co-worker was so lazy she just surfed the net until our final deadlines came up at year end. Our boss just wanted the projects done, and it was easier to get me to do it than confront the lazy one apparently. So I was the s—er who got to do her work on top of mine. Finally I got smart and started leaving a couple of my projects unfinished until the end of the year so I was too busy to help. Lazy girl was shocked when I couldn't help her, and my boss mentioned it in my review. I continued to do the same thing every year so mgmt had to confront lazy girl instead of everyone dumping on me.

yes thing is this person only want the pay, but not to do the work. I have helped in past but same questions on exact same things come up over and over. This persons goal is someone does her work, when she acts like she doesnt know how to do it.

Good news is some of people in this other group may be her new targets, fresh blood.

Great teams help each other. Great teams do not enable poor performers. All that does is demoralize the good ones.

@opt. Great teams help. Help lazy people to stay lazy? How profound!

@1opt. Helping a co-worker because she has too much work to do is ok. Doing her work because she is lazy is not, especially when you have enough work of your own to do. Your criticism of OP grammar is pitiful and your suggestion of what he should do is stupid

@OP+19JuYmJP

Perhaps you could help the older lady in your group with her tasks and in return she could proofread and help you with your grammar in posts here as well as work emails?

we just were merged with another group, there is this one older lady in our group “that move with us”, and “she always try” to dump her work on me as she is not able to do it. The “new group some people in it said” that she is trying to pull this on some of them too and they think she is lazy too. I am “hoping she get moved” out of our group .

Great teams help and receive help.

The more work you do, the more work they will give you. It is worse if you are a contractor because if you complain, your contract will end right there. It's okay to do the minimal work and miss your deadlines.

We move to this new group and there is a guy in there he seems like he is slower than most humans and has this accent or something that cant understand; does anyone know this person?

I made the mistake of helping a lazy co-worker and boy did I end up feeling stupid. People like her are very good at what they do - avoiding the work - so you have to become very good at saying no.

@mfr+19JuYmJP, oh so they dont really merge groups, just a way to get rid of more people? i think that makes sense.

One guy in the new group said they dont like most of these people cause they have no tech skills in our group and not even good at scripting

If you take on all of the extra work you will still ONLY receive a MEETS or INCONSISTENTLY MEETS. You upper mgmt will say they expect you to be a good employee and go above and beyond. You’ll wear yourself thin throughout the year and they’ll screw you at your review. There’s NO incentive to go above and beyond.

I did. I got dropped from EXCELS to MEETS. No raise and a c-ap bonus. I held up my end of working hard and the company told me it’s expected. Right! Expected to work 60-70 hours a week, doing my boss’ reports, training others, leading huge projects for the top of the top on top of my regular work. My thoughts now, they can F themselves. I’ll do what everyone else does: get my stuff done with a fake smile, act happy, and not go above and beyond only to not be recognized.

If you carry her you will regret it. Don’t get wrapped up in any of it or her failures will also become yours.

Short term problem. You’ll both be RIF’d in the near future.

Good luck with that my friend. I've been dealing with this c-ap for years. When you go above and beyond you are also expected to carry the dead weight in your team.
