Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Risk townhall

Did anyone bother to watch it? I really get no value from these; nothing useful is shared or discussed and quite honestly I have better things to do with the hour. I guess it must be a metric to have so many to make sure we all feel “heard”. Btw the answer on diversity hiring was hilarious, Mandy looked like a deer in the headlights “I know I need to do better” and just saying we need the data. Seems like all the senior leaders have a fine time hiring their buddies (notice Suzanne name dropped she worked for both Nate and Mandy previously).

No worries, C.J.T. will show them the ropes with his vast experience.

Nate appears very light. As the head of audit for a tiny bank, not much to talk about there in terms of pedigree or prior experience. No wonder this is way beyond him.

@1txx+19HUTvoG did he mean asian-asian, or indian-asian?

Interesting to observe Nate reference specific MRA's by name within Wells Fargo when i thought the Confidential Supervisory Information procedures have clear requirements for disclosing this type of information.

I am not sure how Nate got this job outside being friends with someone. He's made mistakes and is a terrible leader and speaker. Other senior leaders apologized for him and his terribly confusing statements and meetings after he was hired and few have confidence in him. He's in over his head and his experience and anything jP morgan is not the company to emulate from a risk perspective given all the failures and findings in recent history. Many of these leaders were there when these deficiencies were there.

It was a crazy town hall with only three people talking aming each other and that too from prepared powerpoints.

Among the gems : “the control function is not the control owner or executor”

“The only kind of risk is operational risk”

And then this : “we are absolutely committed to diversity and I apologize for not doing our part . Oh, by the way we have a healthy representation from Asians”.

I am asian and I don’t think I have seen people like these three in my entire continent . Despite my British English, the bank typically gives me a run around even for peer level openings because they hired someone junior from JPM.

Nate is never going to inspire with his speaking ability so he needs to lead by example.

Mandy, no one cares that your comp is tied to diversity. Either practice what you preach or just stop talking about it.

Totally agree! Also the question was particularly about race and Nate conveniently pivoted to gender. Such a bunch of BS. They also have such a hard time keeping a straight face feigning empathy while sitting in their castles eating cake lol.
