Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Beware the Ides of March

I have been waiting for the next nonsense prediction of doom and gloom. I have been saying St. Paddy’s Day because it’s as good a guess as any other.

When will someone admit they just have no clue like the rest of us?

Even better yet, maybe a betting “site”.

Folks they somehow get hired and walk among us...

The ides of March is actually March 15. Unlikely they will lay off on a Monday.

@nuk, might not mean anything. Managers don't always consider employee anxiety. I once scheduled a meeting for our group (about 65 people) that went like this:

Manager: "Would put and all-team call on the calendar for Monday, please?" (This request was on Thursday.)

Me: "Certainly. What should I put on the agenda?"

Manager: "No agenda. I have some general updates to policy, procedures, etc. I'll cover it all when we meet."

Me: "Uh... OK... Well, do you realize that if I do what you're asking you'll have dozens of people on our team who won't sleep over the weekend?"

Manager: "Oh, yeah. Good point. I'll send you some bullet points."

Me: (Thinking to myself) Did I really have to just think of that for you???

I don't know, but if I was Irish and I got canned on St. Paddy's Day, it'd be discrimination law suit time!

Uhhmm.. our fearless leader for our entire org just scheduled a vague/TBD meeting on St. Patrick's day, what could this be?

Pretty sure all banks need to "simulate bankruptcy". Post 2008/2009 financial crisis requirement, no?

Well...no clue except that they are playing with filing bankruptcy. Mock simulations and such. This is extra interesting as the seem to be pushing employees to buy up that stock.

As someone on a team where this has happened already, I can tell you it is a cluster and pretty much as the previous poster described.

Yes, spans / layers of 10 would decimate the manager group. In a lot of areas there's no realistic way to get to 10 unless a bunch of geographically dispersed ICs are going to report to a 'big picture manager' that has no time to directly manage them and really has minimal info on how that person is performing day to day. Not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be a cluster.

Well, IF it's true that WFC is going to 10 reports per manager rather than 7 (I've seen no confirmation of that), there must be some serious shakeups in the works. I checked my org chart up 3 levels, and very few managers have 10 reports. The average is probably 6-7, but there are many with less.

There must be a betting sight somewhere we could use. That would make it a bit more interesting. I personally can't wait to get laid off. The paperwork is in but they're seriously dragging their feet.
