Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Next week

All call with just URL given. (From HR) No topic. No speakers. No agenda. Folks are spooked, me included.

Anyways, our turn may be coming. Is this how it goes down? Or do employees get called one by one?

A few months ago my two up called an all staff meeting with a bland invite like that. The first five minutes he sounded like he was laying all of us off.

It was one person under him, not the 60-something of us that were on the call.

Depends on the group/manager.

If there is a new leader, of which there is many, probably a reorganization, of which there has been many.

Reorg announcement and/or exec leaving or hiring. Lots of groups are gettting reorged into coe’s or lob specific roles. Not a layoff call.

ER here (HR doesn't exist anymore at WF). There are no individual layoff calls with ER/HR since 2 years ago. Volume too high.

Sorry you and your team have to work under these conditions. Hope you’ll do a follow up post. Might help others in the same situation going forward.

I wasn't responding to the OP.

OP never claimed it was a new phenomenon, and if it's a site closure it's more relevant to this board than you going out of your way to tell us how unimpressed you are.

Announcing a site closure to a group isn't unusual, 'groups' have been informed this way for years. Not new.

could be a group layoff potentially, typically individuals are notified one by one but what type of work does your team do? I know some whole teams had been displaced late last year.

I think to speed up things they are speeding this up with a group layoff; that way do it all at once. There is a new head of displacements so may be a new strategy to speed up the process

Probably news to the group about impending layoffs (not necessarily yours) and terms. To prepare you guys for later individual calls by HR to each employee who will be laid off.

Smear some lamb’s blood on the perimeter of your PC screen. You’ll be fine.

Usually individually as far as I’ve seen, and I’ve seen many rounds.

Could be an event affecting your whole group, like a change in management.

Group layoff. will start with your manager and end with HR.

Prefer not to say. It could be something, it could be nothing. I don't want to spread fear. Rather, was seeking info from those who might have been made redundant. How does it happen? Group announced or individually?
