So I perform poorly, I get laid off. Management performs poorly, I get laid off. Management performs well, I get laid off. All roads lead to layoffs.

Maybe, but they can spell "you're"...
1 and 4 chance? Your a fool. Thaw oils mean staff levels drop to 66k people.
lol, if you don't think managers are getting laid off, you haven't been paying attention. Spans/layers anyone? Any time a branch or site closes, there's usually at least one manager impacted. There's also a lot of pay that goes to management, which makes them PRIME targets for layoffs. As much as the ICs of the world hate to admit it, in this issue they are in the same boat as their manager.
you are exactly right!
Tell your manager, take this job and shove it , i aint working here no more!
Not true at all.
Quit being a victim
OP, you must be a lot of fun at parties.

"Welcome to Corporate Socialism" - I think it's Capitalism actually.
"an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."
Welcome to Corporate Socialism, where they privatize the profits and socialize the losses
You forgot that if you perform well in a non-core business: you get laid off. And if you perform well in a LOB that Charlie says needs a reduced headcount: you will be laid off.
The fact is there will be plenty of layoffs for excellent performers.
You have a 1 in 4 chance of being shown the door. Those are terrible odds. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you are so good that they will allow you to stay out of the goodness of their hearts. Or because you have earned it.
Charlie has publicly committed to selling out 25% of you in order to line his own pockets. Is that who you want to work for?
Nature of the beast.
Sounds like you need to start your own company. Take control of your life.
pretty much. surrender to the unexpected results in a blissful life experience. you can't control the uncontrollable.
