Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Do you think leaders respect yes-men?

Leaders like Charlie use people’s weaknesses to accomplish their goals. If I were Charlie, I would take notice of the yes-men scrambling to please me in order to save themselves. I would use them, then I would get rid of them.

Ultimately, I would only have respect for those managers who know they have been effectively managing their employees in the first place and who have the confidence and moral character to stand up for their teams.

A true leader wants strong people working for them who have different viewpoints and strengths to bring to the table. A true leader would want to be surrounded by people who demonstrate competence, integrity, and consistency rather than people who change their thinking every time the wind changes direction.

True story. Merrill Lynch bought a large market-making firm. Merrill had originally said they were expanding that business and wanted the acquired firm’s talent. No layoffs.

One year later, Merrill reversed course and they tasked one of the acquired firm’s previous leaders with letting go most of the employees who had come over with him. The day after he was done, Merrill let him go.

Wow you have an unhealthy obsession with Charlie. You posted this same thing as a reply earlier.

Time to put down the internet and go outside to get some fresh air OP
