Terribly tragic. We are in the process of cutting 1/2 the GMs (each GM will be over at least 2 stores), and half of the District Managers (each DM will have the same amount of GMs reporting to them, but now covering twice as many stores).
Indirect sounds like it’s getting his worse with closer to 2 out of 3 Indirect Managers being cut. Cuts could take into next week to finish.

We got hit in the Great Plains (Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota etc). Some stores are “multi stores” with 1 gm. Any store with 3 SMs lost one (probably more to come). Any stores close to each other, a GM is being severanced. Operations people are taking more districts (with cuts to several). Directors and District Managers cut as well depending on area.

During the pandemic corporate found out GMs don't really have all that much to do. If they can manage one store they can manage three, and let people on the floor take on additional duties. Plans at a third the old prices aren't going to support all the extra management anymore.
Some stores will have 1 GM per two stores but it all goes by geographical location. DMs will have bigger territories because indirect will now roll up to them. Some stores did get closed. Consequences of covid for sure.
