If you have been displaced, do you HAVE to talk to the career services advisors? Or is that just a tool to help? From the emails they’ve sent me it almost feel a little pushy and now I’m not sure if I must talk to them otherwise the company will cut my pay or severance.

Career service pushes because they don't get paid until you take action. The pushing is so they can collect their money
OMG, they have it here, too? I was displaced at another company and they had that career service and they were so pushy and annoying. I told them twice I was not interested but they kept calling and being a nuisance. This lasted for about a month and a half until they just left me alone.
No, you don't have to use them and they should quit bothering you when you tell them, no thanks.

When I got let go in 09 the company provided several months of LLH, I have mixed emotions about the experience. I don't feel like I got much from them I could not get reading books and online information BUT it did provide somewhere to go and a feeling I was actively doing something as opposed to sitting around all day.
During that 60 days it meant a lot to get up everyday and have a reason to go somewhere that meant more then their resume tips to me. I would recommend taking advantage of the offer.
I used a similar service when I was displaced a few years ago. Very helpful. It doesn't hurt to get have someone objectively go over your resume and get some coaching.
LHH is a great free service. Even if you already have a different job you can utilize them to polish up your resume for the future. They will move at whatever pace you want to go and you can choose what you want to participate in. I felt the same way at first but once I connected with them was happy I did.

Nope, just a benefit from the company. No obligation to respond, but not a bad idea to check in with the person if you have any interest in resources. I had a good experience with the person from LLH and we agreed to touch base after the holidays. If you are “inactive” with them after 60 days, you’re off their radar for outreach.
